If he waits until the offseason, he wastes another year of Dwight/Harden combo. And given Dwight's injury issues, that opportunity cost is looking higher and higher by the minute.
I am hoping for Greg Monroe! We need a backup for Dwight and he can play PF as well. Terrence Jones is ok but I like Monroe more. The problem is this team needs depth more than anything. If we can somehow swing a deal with Detroit and maybe even another team than that would be for the best. We really need help at the backup 1 and especially the 4 and 5. Another guy I would be interested in is Taj Gibson it is just that I don't think they would give him to us for just a trade exception. I can see the Pistons giving Monroe up because he is on a one year deal and is probably going to leave after this season.
I cant believe I gone tru 13 pages, and no one mention a 25 year old PF that is averaging 5 rpg with a 3P% of .45. On top of decent defense. Houston previous fav player. Pat2.
How is that? He's really nothing special at all, and his value has raised - if I'm GM I trade him [buy low, trade high]
It seems to me that Howard may only play in 30 or 40 games this year and will be in and out of the lineup throughout the year. It's time we go out and get another big to pair with D-Mo, I think Jefferson or Hibbert would work and could do the job. Trade Dwight, use whatever picks or exceptions you need and bring in someone who will actually be reliable enough to suit up in a real game. This makeshift lineup we have now isn't going to keep up with the pace, especially when you look at the amount of minutes that JH and Ariza are racking up right now. These guys are going to need electroshock therapy before the season is done just to keep them in zombie mode. Bring in another center, get rid of Dwight and let's go for it. The window for this team is very small, once Lebron and Love get their **** together in Cleveland we could be looking at another 4-6 years before we get another shot. Win now, win today and stop cockblocking this team in the name of flexibility. Time is now.
Oh, and before anyone mentions Durant... 1. He isn't coming here. 2. He's already showing signs that his body may break down. We cannot rely on superstars anymore. They always seem to break down on us. It's time we build a real team, using depth as the strategy and not putting our eggs all in one basket. We have been burned by this too many times now. It has to stop.
Whew, I'm glad your not the GM! Howard is going to retire a rocket, unless at the end of his career he goes to Toronto. Lets hope he retires with some hardware. This isn't NBA 2k. Players have feelings and probably would not appreciate the organization trading away one of their best players at the slightest sign of worry. Besides, whose going to take a guy that can opt out next year? How much value does Howard have? Not much at this very moment. This is not a knock on Howard's game but right now if you were to trade Howard the opposing GM would first ask "What is wrong with him?" and then realize that the guy contract is almost up and it's not worth the gamble.
Great, so you seem very enthused that we are now stuck with another broken down superstar. Were you this optimistic about T-Mac/Yao? I wish I shared your optimism and enthusiasm. But, Howard has not shown us any signs that he can return to his explosive form since he joined our team. That, in itself is forgivable so long as he still suits up and provides useful minutes. Right now he is providing no useful minutes, and going strictly from his own comments it seems like we may be getting very few useful minutes from him in the near future. So, I guess we should just be glad this guy is on our roster? Keep losing? What are your recommendations? Can we win a ship this year without this guy playing and without a tangible replacement? If we can't win it this year, then how many years should we wait until we have someone who can suit up and play for at least 75 games and help us win a ship? What do you recommend we do?
Umm....that's only happened 5 times this year. My recommendation is that you take a break from posting and enjoy our team that is 16-5 whether DH12 is there or not.
I hope Dwight looks good on Saturday and goes for like 20/12 to shut up the people saying he should be traded.
For the sake of discussion, let's say the above is true. How do you propose we trade a player who is broken down and makes over $20M/year for the next 3 years if that player won't help any team win a championship?
