No he won't, and he absolutely isn't worth 20 mill. But to be fair, I don't think we can judge PG's values by questioning whether they are top 10 at there position anymore. The PG position is so absolutely packed, a top 20 PG is just as talented if not more then a top 10 SG, SF or C. So no not top 10 at the point, but still a pretty good option for our 3rd star. His contract sucks, but that's for Morey and Les to evaluate, I trust their decisions.
Have you considered that his salary is almost as much as Dwight's? He makes almost one third of the team cap space for the 2015-2016 season. Sure he would be an upgrade if his salary was a stale bag of potato chips. But at $20M+ ... Morey is not a fool. You should not be either.
If he is not a top 10 PG he has absolutely no chance at becoming our "third star". Think about what you just said.
Not being a top 10 PG doesn't mean you can't be a 3rd star when all of the point guards in the top 10 are all star quality players. Paul Curry Westbrook Irving Lowry Lillard Wall Parker Dragic Conley All legitimate all star quality players right? At the SG position there's only 6 all star caliber players, the SF position about 4, C position about 5. It's not fair to say Williams isn't a 3rd star quality player just because he isn't top 10 in such at such a stacked position, because he's easily more talented then most of the players in the top 10 at three other position. It's hard for me to explain this, but relatively to the nba's talent as a whole, and not just PG position, I would say he's a legitimate 3rd option.
Suns trade Dragic only when they get an useful veteran back. Maybe they are more willing to get Brook Lopez as their weak in rim offence I have an trade proposal: Suns trade Goran Dragic, Anthony Tolliver, Archie Goodwin, get Brook Lopez, Troy Daniels Nets trade Brook Lopez, get Anthony Tolliver, Archie Goodwin, NOP's pick Hou trade Troy Daniels, NOP's pick, and use Lin's TPE to get Dragic back. Suns and us get useful player, Brooklyn dumps Lopez's contract and get valuable pick.
And every single player on that list will dominate D-Will. And you left out a few point guards. So what again is your point?
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm see question 85.What is a non-simultaneous trade? you can seperate a trade into several trade piece, if each piece works the trade works. and each team can have independent seperate way. in this trade, HOU seperate their trade into 2 pieces, the one use TPE to get Dragic, and the second, send Daniels for nothing! Larry Coon's CBA faq give an example to seperate trade into simultaneous trade and non-simultaneous trade. "Here is a more complicated example of a legal non-simultaneous trade: Team A is a taxpaying team with a $4 million trade exception from a previous trade, and a $10 million player it currently wants to trade. Team B has three players making $4 million, $5 million and $7 million, and the two teams want to complete a three-for-one trade with these players. This trade is legal -- the $5 million and $7 million players together make less than the 125% plus $100,000 allowed for the $10 million player ($12.6 million), and the $4 million player fits within the $4 million trade exception. So the $4 million player actually completes the previous, non-simultaneous trade, so Team A is left trading its $10 million player for Team B's $5 million and $7 million players in a separate, simultaneous trade. From Team B's perspective there is also a simultaneous and a non-simultaneous trade -- it aggregates its $4 million and $5 million players to acquire Team A's $10 million player in a simultaneous trade, and it sends the $7 million player to Team A for "nothing" in a separate, non-simultaneous trade, thereby receiving a $7 million trade exception."
We could trade for DWill in two parts. First, pick up a player in the next couple of weeks making at least $4.3 million using the trade exception. Then at the trade deadline (at least 60 days after this months deal), flip this new player, plus Terry and Papa for DWill. Salaries must be within $5 million. Still don't see it happening, that contract is a killer.
Good options? The kind that help build a contender before Dwight declines significantly? Those options are decreasing. A ton of guys are settling into good situations and won't be looking to move for a while. The wave of uncertainty facing a lot of them came and went, as teams reloaded or didn't get much worse, if at all.
Every game has to have one winner and one loser. Every year, situations get better or worse and some players contracts get closer to expiring. Some guys settle in but others become more available to be moved (again, like the Nets guys-- getting moved because they are expensive and somewhat surprisingly below .500). Even some freshly signed guys can get on the market in a hurry (Lance and Manimal are two such guys, apparently, and Nene was an example from a couple years back). I agree that the Rockets have some urgency, but they can at least afford to wait until the trade deadline.
I could envision a 3 team deal with HOU, BKN, & LAL DWill to LAL Teletovic & AK47 to HOU (into Lin TPE) Capela, Nash's contract, Lin, HOU 1st from LAL, NYK 2nd & future 2nd from LAL to BKN,
From what I've heard, they like Len and expect him to get more burn. He's looked good though from just a couple of games I've watched.
He's still a good ways from being a consistent contributor. The suns are in need of a big man very very badly and that should tell you the stage of Len's development. Not that he doesn't have a bright future, but the suns are wanting someone who can contribute right now.
Take this with a grain of salt (I'm no insider, by any means), but this is coming from my friend who has a direct line to Goran Dragic (they grew up together, went to same school etc..). Phoenix is said to be discussing a deal of Isiah Thomas and Archie Goodwin for Taj Gibson. Chicago wants to get insurance for D.Rose and Aaron Brooks isn't that kind of a player, Phoenix gets a quality big man. So basically, they ain't trading their MIP, 3rd team all NBA, especially not just to dump salary into a trade exception. Again, take it with a huge grain of salt, but that should get you to stop discussing Dragic like he is an easy get. I would love to get him back in Rockets red, but I just don't see PHO being that dumb.
Huh? How did we get from Dragic to DWill? DWill is washed up. With all our injuries, we have no assets to trade except for our picks.
