I'd be shocked if Morey were actually interested in bringing DWill here now. We've already got the souped up super-duper version of DWill in Harden. I suspect Morey is participating in talks so he can maximize our asset pile by helping get deals done elsewhere and simply driving up the price for other teams to have to unload more assets for DWill, etc. IOW, just basically working the system for the benefit of the Rox. But I'd be shocked if he actually brought DWill here. Now....Lopez........could be a different story. I'm wondering if Lopez could be had for basically junk to help Brooklyn cut salary. That MIGHT be an interesting get. Especially if we merged a trade for Lopez with a trade for Dragic using the TPE. We only need $10,719,062 outgoing salary to acquire Lopez. So combine Kostas, Dorsey, Canaan, Jet, Black, and Capella for the salary needed to trade for both Goran and Lopez. Divide those guys up and send them out to PHX and Brooklyn however it works out. Salary dump for Brooklyn. PHX gets a couple prospects for Goran. You synergize a 3-way deal. PHX gets their choice of a couple prospects from that pile for Goran...probably Canaan and either Capella or Kostas ...their choice. Rest of the guys go to Brooklyn. We get back Shavlik Randolph with Goran (minimum salary to balance incoming players for PHX) and 3 minimum salary guys from Brooklyn to balance the 4 incoming players for Lopez. That leaves us with Goran, James, Trevor, Dwight, DMo, Lopez, Beverley, Jones, Nick Johnson, Daniels, Garcia, Shavlik Randolph, and 3 minimum salary guys from Brooklyn filling out the roster. And we keep the Pels pick to either draft or use in trade later (wink wink). Oh, need a shooter since we traded away JET, Canaan, etc.? Well, drop one of Brooklyn's non-guaranteed contracts and sign RayRay to the BAE. So we wind up with a rotation of: Goran Dragic James Harden Trevor Ariza Dwight Howard Donatas Motiejunas Pat Beverley Brooks Lopez Terrence Jones Ray Allen That's 9 deep plus Daniels, Garcia, Shavlik Randolph hanging around on the bench for spot up shots and 18 fouls to give. This also perfectly positions us for 2015 free agency. If LaMarcus does decide he wants out of Portland, we can execute a sign-and-trade for him using Brooks Lopez' expiring contract (gets to play with his brother) and the Pels pick to bring LaMarcus in here. Or perhaps Millsap decides he wants to walk on Atlanta. And if nothing happens we play it out with Lopez and add the lottery pick player and hold for 2016 free agency (Durant). This all works under the trade rules. Simply a matter of: 1. Is Brooklyn really interested in dumping Lopez for a youngster or two and saving somewhere between $30-50 million in salary and luxury tax. and 2. Will PHX decide they aren't re-signing Goran and take Canaan plus a young prospect for him?
I just want someone who can come in & run the offense well while Hardin is resting or hurt. Can Isaiah Canaan grow into that role?
It's pathetic that we are sitting at 16-4 and talking about Deron washed up Williams. The guy is not the difference between a championship or not. Heck he is not even a top 15 PG in my books anymore. And that albatross contract. No thanks.
In the words of the immortal TMac, "Is a pig's ...... pork?" IF we do not trade Isaiah Canaan he will be running the offense for the second unit when Harden is off the floor and his on-court and trade value will matriculate through the roof. He's that good offensively. He's that good offensively right now.
The Rockets are relying too much on Harden and Ariza even before the injures. They'll be burnt out or injured come the playoffs. Still need rim protection behind Dwight too. The Rockets need more than vet depth.
Williams isn't washed up, he had injury problems last year and had an off season. Outside of last season Williams has always played well, including this season. Teletovic and Jack would be interesting but those guys are options we should be looking at AFTER we get another key player, not before. Williams, Johnson and Lopez are key players so a trade with the nets should be centered around one of them. I would be apposed to getting any of the 3, honestly I believe Johnson and Harden could pair up well in the back court, as well as Lopez and Howard in the front court. Although all 3 of those players are overpaid, but Lopez isn't as overpaid as JJ or DW.
Deron Williams would be a great player to have, he has had a nice season averaging 17ppg 6apg on 43 percent shooting, 40 percent from three and 90 percent from the line Trade he and Garnett here to add more depth
Not washed up? You are correct. But he will never be a top 10 point guard in the NBA again. And at $20M+ ...
We are not interested in Lopez Deron or JJ. Contracts are way too big, we'd have to give up our depth to match for either injury prove player or one that's too old.
D-Will is out of his prime but has played well this season and would Play better on a team where he is the third option. Well documented friendship with Dwight and proven playoff performer. Wouldn't be my first or third option but you guys are nuts for thinking he wouldn't be an upgrade and down right Planters for questioning if he is capable of filling Terry's role.
