Well a microfracture is definitely career altering. I can't see him being as explosive as the guy who we were supposed to get when we drafted him. Unfortunate too because you had another great choice in Khalil Mack.

    worst news imaginable.

he won't ever gain that explosion back.

see a'mare.. and the list goes on & on.

oh well. i knew he was a bust the minute rick drafted him. onto the next wasted draft pick!!!!

sounds like you're not familiar with micro fracture knee surgery.

it's a big freaking deal, and next season is pretty much a wash.

so yes.. the term 'bust' is very warranted.

So if Mack go injured, you would say why didn't you take Clowney? Fans are IDIOTS a good chunk of the time.

Organization and medical staff specifically should be ashamed of themselves for how they handled this.

i know what it is. i just don't think you can label a player a bust after 1.5 games and an injury, regardless the injury.

my point is, at least wait to see how he returns to label him a bust.

It seems like you are the idiot for putting words in my mouth. I just said it's unfortunate because there was another great defensive player there too. I never said "why didn't we take Mack?"

If you're going to troll, do a better job at it. Otherwise piss off.

so we have to wait until 2016 to determine his ability?

nah. sorry. nfl don't work like that. anywho, what made clowney good was his explosion, and this surgery will take that from him. now he'll be a 'meh' type of player who plays with limited strength and pass rushing moves.

and maybe my definition of bust is wrong or different. When i think of "bust", i think of players who don't live up to their hype because they suck, i.e., not solely because of injuries.

The NFL is a crazy-physical game. Any player can get injured at any time, altering their career. Does that injury label them a bust? I don't think it necessarily does.

An article about Greg Oden's microfracture surgeries and how doctors have been moving away from it. Essentially Clowney's career is a coin flip at this point. He'll either heal like Zach Randolph and Jason Kidd, or he'll need to gain a ton of weight and move inside or to 3-4 end. Helps that he is only 21/22.

Oh wow, microfracture surgery? Now is the time to start questioning if he'll ever be healthy, the track record for coming back from that surgery isn't good, at least he's young so he has SOME chance.

Travis Kelce is a reason for optimism, but honestly, we'd have to know a lot more about the size and location of the injury to know odds on Clowney making a full recovery.

    dude, he got drafted 1.1

he will pretty much miss the first 2 seasons of his career.

and when he returns he will be a shell of his former self.

just save yourself the time and come to the realization that clowney will never be a significant part of the houston texans. this surgery robbed him of what makes him special. if you don't call that a bust because it's due to injury, so be it. regardless, it's a monumental failure for the texans organization & that's all that really matters.

Ouch. That sucks. I wouldn't expect much out of him until maybe mid season next year. Hopefully this won't affect his athleticism a ton.
