Dwill is not an upgrade, he will only provide offense which is good when everyone else is cold. But he sucks at defense, and that is how we are winning right now. no thanks.

Well, the two questions to ask are:

    1. Can we really get someone else better?
    2. Why isn't he? Because he's hurt, has declined, or is he healthy and he just lost his way because the Nets are a mess?

I don't believe he is. I'd take every single one of those guys you listed before him now. Weird...I remember when him, Paul and Rondo were fighting for top pg title

Because he is a broken down 30 years old player who has had numerous major surgeries?

    Nope.

Honestly, as much as I thought this roster needed a lot of tweaking/upgrading at the start of the season -- I'm not that pressed about it anymore. I want to get a long look at what we have once guys are healthy before we start tinkering around with anything.

Pat Beverly has the same PER as D-Will, for 1/20th the salary

But is that what his play is showing? Obviously it doesn't sound good, but even Grant Hill came back from a worse situation and at an older age. It's not impossible. DWill has never been a high flyer. He still has handles and as long as his ankles healed well, he'll still have that hesitation and herky-jerky moves. Shot looks good now.

Good points. But is he a top ten PG in the league? Not right now. And for the cap space his contract eats up he had better be top three.

DWill, when healthy is not bad at all. But is he with the opportunity cost associated with his cap hit? If the Rockets keep playing the way they do, it would seem that you can find someone better, or at least less risky health-wise, than Williams.

I can see a team without many good options go after Williams. I don't think that Morey thinks of the Rockets that way. He might well explore the option, but don't think he'd bite.

To me, he is kind of like Rudy Gay a couple season ago. Has talent, but also expensive and a risky investment. SAC took Rudy because they were in a position to gamble on these risks-- no big free agent was signing with SAC to play with that losing team with a crazy Cousins no matter how much cap room SAC had. And it worked out for SAC, too. But I don't think that a team confident that they have a decent shot at landing good free agents would have taken Rudy.

I don't know a lot about the cap going into this tv deal...but if Les is willing to pay..

Our options are just decreasing with time. We may have to settle for someone like him and hope for the best...but i don't know what Morey does, maybe some of these other guys are more attainable than it seems. Maybe not stars, but a teague+milsap-like move would work.

I don't see how the options are decreasing with time. Some options disappear while others new ones open up (like this Nets thing just did).

As long as the Rockets perform well and look like a desirable destination, they will have options.

I don't think we will get Rondo unless we give up NOP and a high upside young player and some #2 picks.

And I'm holding out for the Rockets to just get healthy so we can see what we already have.

No, Sac took Gray because they had new ownership trying to make a statement to their fan base. They got lucky as it has worked out reasonably well for them, while buying good will with the cowbellers.

I am too. Had lunch with DM yesterday to discuss a theatre project and told him I'd be very happy if we were to stand pat. Can't share his response of course but I can tell you he is loving our team right now as I imagine any fan in his right mind would be.

Am I the only one who sees Jason Terry as a significant asset? The way he has been playing this year, I would not want to give him up. He has arguably been better than D-Will in his role.
