A lot of dominoes to fall to get numbers, $s and total players, in line. Sure I could see DM the GM targeting DWill, but I'd see it with a buyout by Bklyn with an agreement for Rox to sign him to enough $s to mitigate for Nyets + an unbalanced trade for other asset(s) to make total transactions reasonable for both/all. And to convince the commish of how kosher le bosher it all is.
Rondo is shooting 32%(!!!)... from the free throw line (11 of 34). Tarik Black shoots 48%. Really don't want Rondo. Pass on Williams, too. Too old, too injury prone for a minor upgrade at point.
Williams will be useless if all we're doing is feeding Dwight in the post and not having him do pick and rolls. Canaan can fill the role of spot up shooter and passable defender. Williams would be $18 million dollars more expensive and will do little more than that. Not to mention wiping out our SF depth... losing Ariza who is arguably the glue guy holding our team defense together. Having to play Garcia significant minutes. Ugh.
Just talking hypotheticals.... didn't someone mention the simultaneous trade rule a few dozen pages or so back. Could you send a 2nd this year and a future 2nd to Memphis for Prince (they get below luxury tax threshold as well) who fits into Lin TPE? Then send the newly acquired Prince (7.7), Papa (4.8), Capella (1.2), & Canaan (.82) for D-Will? Just spit ballin... But at the end of the day, no way do I want DWill at that salary on this team:grin:
If I remembered the stories correctly, Morey inquired about DWill last year and dangled Asik and Lin. That made some amount of sense, given Asik wanted out and Lin was being mediocre. The Rockets no longer have the big salaries to make such a trade feasible. Times change, circumstances change, targets change. Morey definitely moved on unless he somehow sees 25yr old DWill somewhere hidden in that broken down, 30yr old body.
A lot of posters said the same thing about Jason Terry when it first came out that we signed him. His broken down old body is doing very good right now.
It's good for a 37 year old who was traded as a salary dump. Would you have traded Papa and Capella for this Terry? No. But you would certainly do so for a prime Jason Terry. Terry's only awesome because of expecations and salary. Give him a $30mil contract and he'd be the whipping boy of clutchfans.
Deron is 30, he is healthy so far and he has a good season.I don't want to trade for him but he is still a very good PG.
I would hate to trade Papa and Capella any time soon. I would like to see how this Capella works out for us. Not saying D-Will is worth the money he is now getting it seems rather high. Last night I watched Toronto play I rather pay Kyle Lowry that money. Pat was looking pretty good now also.
I never said he wasn't. But he's not close to the player a few years ago when Morey wanted to trade for him. If the Rockets aren't paying Parsons $45mil, are they really going to pay DWill $60mil and give up several young prospects in the process?
don't really want deron....but IF he's healthy, then I could see why Morey would pull the trigger. I'd be interested in seeing how it would work out because I do think we need more talent to really contend.
Agree with you to a certain extent, but think their still a piece away from really contending. The problem I see down the road (playoffs) is will Harden have anything left in the tank being the only play maker for the entire season.
I think the question is what Williams has left in the tank. I wouldn't make the deal, myself, as I view it as a tank half empty, but Morey's mind works in mysterious ways.
Is D-Will even a top 10 PG anymore? Curry, Rondo, Paul, Parker, Lowry, Lilliard, Conley, Wall, Irving, Westbrook are all definitely better. Are Dragic and Bledsoe better? Probably.
