They really hate the idea of playing defense, don't they? It seems a little odd to me to have 2 rookies (not technically but Randle will be), but it would confirm that they're just waiting for Kobe to retire, which makes me wonder why on earth Rondo would go there.
I only understand trade rumors if they are given in obscure codes. Doc Rocket can you fix this for me?
cyberx, does Monroe to OKC make any sense to you if they trade for him during the season? Knowing they're going to have to clear out everybody but their big 3 to re-sign him? And then if they do that they still might not have enough cap space to get it done? Does it a Monroe/Jackson trade make sense for OKC without Detroit including a first round pick? And then does a Monroe/Jackson trade make sense for Detroit if they have to give up a first round draft pick? I'm sure the rumor is real. But you tell me how much sense that makes..especially knowing OKC's front office?
I don't follow this thread so are there any updates regarding the Rockets on your end? Even the generic "they're in talks" would be suffice for me
I think it makes sense for a team that is going for a championship. Imagine how much it helps them resigning Durant with a championship.
When the cards were on the table in the playoffs last season the rocket PGs were completed owned by Lillard, sick, hurt or had their feelings hurt or whatever. LOL. Lillard basically played one side of the ball in that series and his next series he had to chase a player by the name of Tony Parker around the court. Huge difference
I think it's safe to say without insider status, that Daryl Morey is ALWAYS engaged in talks. I think it's fair to assume DM is always working to improve this roster, and there is never an idle moment in his plans. That's why I don't understand why so many posters on this thread are crying when these claims are made and don't result in an immediate trade. DM has probably offered Harden for Lebron before. It doesn't mean these talks have any weight, they're just discussions between businesses. DM: "I'll sell you this for that" Some GM: "what? Are you crazy?" DML "No, just seeing if you were asleep." Sometimes the other GM bites, and voila, you have a trade!
So the Cavs want to improve their defense by trading for... The undersized starting center anchoring the arguably the worst defense in league history? Not that Dion Waiters has done well or anything, but as an asset he should be worth more than Jordan Hill.
No. They clear everyone not named Durant, Ibaka, Westbrook to resign monroe, and get some minimum guys to pick up the slack. Who knows, Monroe may take less money to stay with OKC. 12 million playing for a contender is different than 12 million play for the Pistons and SVG.
Um yeah, ok. I'd rather have Reggie Jackson in my backcourt and get spot minutes out of Perkins than to trade for Monroe to take Perk's minutes and not have Reggie for a championship run.
Too many "ifs" in this plan. First, you have to find takers for all these salaries and if people know you are desperate, it'll cost you assets to get rid of them. Second, even if you get rid of them, Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka make $49m by themselves. Adding some empty roster spot charges and you are pretty far below what a max contract would be given a $66M projected cap. Third, Monroe was reportedly getting max offers this summer in potential sign and trades that Detroit rejected. So you cannot count on him to take much less than that.
Thanks Cyber. I have to admit though that I'm not sure how Cleveland goes for that (Hill and Johnson don't seem like much and don't address Cle's center problem and aren't nearly enough value for Dion).
