Lol this is straight up hate for no reason. What is he supposed to say in response to a question? And it's his job as face of the NBA to give politically correct statements, especially when it comes to dealing with royalty. And yes, royalty. You may not think so, but guess what, you're not British. If the Brits see them as royalty and are happy with it, I couldn't care less. Why do you care so much?
Can you swear that if you were invited to such an event you would spit at the Royals' face and call them freeloaders? I like how if it's other people they should be doing X and Y but if you were the person there you'd probably be kissing ass way harder than Lebron. Whatever Mr. Internet Hipster King of Cool
So what you are really saying is that you are butt hurt you weren't born into the royal family line. And you are right, we all equate Prince William to Kim Kardashian... I am anxiously awaiting his nude rear-end magazine cover. And since Kim K. is in line for the presidency too, we pray blessing on President Obama daily, because if you think things are bad now...
I also think the royal family is a freeloading anachronism, but it would still be a huge honor if they wanted to come watch me play basketball (or make an Excel model). And, I don't mean that in a PR way, but a real way.
why would I spit in their face?? I certainly would not drop to my knees and say it is an honor. they go to charity events with taxpayer money for a living. i find it sad the Brits enable that.. and it's not hard for me to believe others wouldn't care less about them showing up. i'm not a showbiz guy and speak my mind whereas the rest of you just want validation from others i guess.... otherwise i can't see why you feel people wouldn't pass the opportunity to kiss up to em
there's a herd mentality amongst the liberals here where opposing beliefs are AUTOMATICALLY decried as "trolling". i'm not the only self made man I know who looks down on 'em. I would not treat the self proclaimed royals any different than someone else who comes to watch me play basketball or do work. they haven't paved their own way or have any talents, but like to feel like they can walk on water. that's no different than a teenage punk or reality tv star.
i'll throw my hat in here with downbytheriver... lebron is incredibly talented but a very disingenuous person... he left miami recently not because he wanted to help his hometown as he so penned in his decision letter, but because cleveland was young with a brighter future while miami was heading downhill with a washed up dwade... nothing wrong with moving teams every few years at all, but at least don't pretend you're some sort of philanthropist doing it to help your home town - if that were his true motivation he never would have left cleveland in the first place. also anyone still worshiping royalty at this point needs to pick up a history book or two that doesn't have a british author/publication company... their monarchs such as henry viii and richard iii have been responsible for mass mutilations and elevating petty squabbles into conflicts that repeatedly endangered millions of lives in the name of ego... thankfully they're just glorified mascots these days... and it's always refreshing to see some people are capable of recognizing just how unnecessary they really are.
You echoed my sentiments exactly. especially the pr spin about doing it for his hometown rather than being real. Maybe it's one mascot bowing to another , both born into situations few others are. LeBron with his genetics, the prince into a family an entire country is silly enough to take seriously. Both situations hard to mess up unless you're a methhead. Posters here are very, very afraid of moving away from the herd.. it's easy to not have to think for yourself and worship who the media sticks in your face.
