If anyone wants to play feel free to add me as a friend. My Nintendo network ID is Cjeazy Always up for a game of Smash
So Nintendo finally implemented a friend list instead of friend codes for everything?? I might add/play you....but I never played the smash games before.
Yeah it seems at least for the Wii U they are using the Network ids. Slowly but surely Nintendo is starting to get how this whole online thing works, haha
Got one laggy game. Played last night with zero problems. Maining Lucario, Ness and Fox. Loved Little Mac at first but I just can't deal with his God awful recovery. Watching Lil Mac recover is like watching Clint Capela play basketball. j_ambitious is my handle if anyone is up for a game.
Multiplayer and trash talking is so fun. And at the end of a much everyone is anxious to see who won.
I'm getting some awful lag trying to play online. One game, it was constantly stuttering for 2 seconds at a time. Even one-on-one games, there's a clear 0.5 second delay and it's very difficult to play competitively. I hate how online casual matches are 2-minute timed. Time mode benefits the opportunistic and lucky who get the final hits. Should be stock instead like competitive. Been trying to main Diddy Kong since I heard he's on the top of the tier lists. His attacks have some pretty good knockback power. Either the AI got better or I'm very rusty as I'm finding it hard to one-on-one a level 9 computer, who I used to be able to wipe the floor with in SSBM. Playing with the gamepad isn't much help either. So big, bulky and awkward. I've scoured about 4 Best Buys in Austin, a few Targets, Frys, and a Walmart but still can't find the Gamecube adapter. I ordered Pro controllers online and I hope to get them sometime soon. Hopefully, they're better than the gamepad.
It's way more fun playing with friends or family. Sorry to hear that most of you are having trouble acting a Gamecube adapter. I preordered a week before release date from Best buy. I'm glad I did
Who are considered the 'top tier' characters? I like playing as Little Mac, but his recovery is awfu. Get knocked off 5 feet from the stage and I still struggle getting back to the field.
Sheik, Rosalina, Yoshi, Lucario, and Sonic are probably the best five, but honestly, it's still too early for true tiers. Jigglypuff is my main at this point, followed by Luigi and Fox. I do really wish that Nintendo would update it so that Battlefield was also allowed with For Glory matches so that not everything is on FD.

PSA: Gamestop is taking pre-orders online for the Gamecube Adapter. They say should ship by 12/15. No free shipping but at least you can order it.
so I played the new one this past weekend. To me it seems like a cross between melee and brawl. Like Brawl, they've kept the wave-dash out. They've also nerfed some moves that used to be overpowered. For instance the Samus in-air straight leg kick used to hit anything that touched it while outstretched. Now it is a swipe forward then backward that has to be timed correctly... it also doesn't have as much of a knock back effect. Little things like that have greatly changed the game for me. Still a great game though. I'll probably check out the online play soon.
Finally picked this up with a Pikachu amiibo. SSB is still amazing. A good cast of new characters. The Japanese/anime characters seem pretty powerful, especially the guy with the sword. The one thing I can't move past still is the controllers... SSB isn't the same without the Gamecube controller. I've tried the gamepad (MEH) and the wiimote/nunchuk (a little better). Gonna try out the classic controller next. Anyone tried the Wii U Pro controller?
They sell some Gamecube-like controllers that can adapt to an existing Wii Remote. They should be releasing some more adapters soon. The AI in this game is *much* improved from previous iterations. I would typically own them in the past without much fuss and now I have trouble beating them 1v1 (I've been training team battle 2 Lvl 9 CPUs vs me alone with 6 stock and have yet to come even close to winning a single match). Still unsure of a main as everyone seems to have some sort of weakness that I have trouble getting over.
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks the AI has gotten better. I was hoping it wasn't me. I train with 4 stock 1v1 level 9, some matchups I'm able to win with 1 stock left, others they destroy me and I'm lucky to kill them twice. I wish I was in college again living in the dorms where we played SSBM 24/7. Gets boring playing against CPUs and online is too laggy.
i use pro controller....but i'm a nobody at this game. i played smash bros 64 back in the day...but never touched brawl or melee...so this game is drastically different for me. still fun...but i couldn't tell you if the pro controller would help or not
