From the dawn of the universe until now, there gas been no rhyme or reason to evolution. Chemistry and physics are just pushed along by entropy until we randomly arrived at sentient beings. But they can direct the evolution of the things they create. Changed can now be directed and purpose assigned. Natural, organic limitations can be overcome. Mortality can be overcome.

Mankind was always just a step, never the endgame. 1,000 generations of artificial intelligence will be as foreign to us as space travel would be to cavemen.
