These games are really building Dmos confidence. I would love to see him as our primary post option even when dwight is on the floor. We should have went to him when we were up 13 with 6 mins to go. He would have put the game away by drawing fouls and finishing those hooks.
I was thinking the same thing, homie. Two play makers out (Harden/Papa) and where will it come from. Thank the basketball Gods for DMo!
I agree, going inside and getting easy buckets is like handing the ball off to a running back while your up 2 tds. Shooting jumpers causes long rebounds and fast break opportunities if you miss. If you make or miss short shots you have time to set your defense either way.
lol There are other reason for the union to not like the smoothing proposal. If the payroll goes up we will be able to grab a nice player with that increase but with smoothing we can't. I would think that players would not like to be more restricted in their movements. The players were also wanting a larger percentage.
If I were a player I would be totally in favor of a smoothing proposal. If you have a huge bump-up in a single offseason, who profits? Not every NBA player. Only those players who are free agents THAT offseason. All of a sudden you'll have a bunch of people on Chandler Parsons-level overpriced contracts while superstars who signed their deals 2+ years before will feel shortchanged. It will amount to a lot of lockerroom tension for some clubs.
Eh, he was more crafty (immediately) around the basket thats for sure. Yao had that nice hook he could take from a decent distance and a more reliable midrange jumper. At the end of the day I would have to say that Yao was more skilled, but yea, both put the majority of post men in the NBA today to shame.
Yao had all the moves and the sweetest shooting touch any 7 ft persons has ever had plus he was 320 lbs and nimble. I love scola but Yao was HoF type talent and player. Scola is a nice role player/starter on a playoff team buts just couldn't dominate a game, he def had great moves off his pivot foot and was a surprisingly good rebounder tho.
Sorry man. I can't take objective analysis seriously from a guy with "Yao Ming" in his name. The topic is post moves. Not overall skill and ability given individual circumstances. Scola could absolutely dominate a game. And he did it. Many many times. Luis Scola was 27 year old when he joined the NBA. If he would have started in his early 20's he would have been a force for 13 years. Instead he won at the highest level of every other international competition. And still posted a near 20/10 season in the NBA, late into his prime. He led Argentina to a gold medal over the USA. Luis Scola will be in hall of fame. And as cool as Yao was. He was only unstoppable in the post during two seasons. During 05-06 in which he became permanently injured. And then in 07-09 in which he had his career ended. Yao was great and could do a lot of damage in multiple ways in the post. But he got taken out of the game by fronting and smaller athletic players way too easily. He also had a problem with big mobile guys due to his size. When Mehmet Okur neutralizes you, you're not unstoppable. Yao's size affected him in the post sometimes but overall he said was amazing. Scola on the other hand truly was unstoppable. He had counter moves for his counter mover and was mobile enough to not get taken out of the game by gimmicky defenders. Perhaps Yao was still better. I'm not so sure. The point is it's closer than you guys are making it out to be.
This thread turned from DMo to the salary cap. DMo put on his game face and was not overwhelmed by the big moment. I haven't seen him this resolute even in his national team performances. If he can use his post-moves against the elite teams, yeah by all means, pay him. We invested time in him; we're keeping him.
At this rate I think D-Mo has a better chance at carrying Dream's legacy than Dwight does. Dwight will most likely sit on the sidelines for the remainder of his contract, while D-Mo actually cares more about winning. I wish Dwight had never signed here, he's T-Crap 2.0.
