super long strides but he is gathering the ball just before he takes his first step to get around the defender and then the second step in the lane to lay it up. just looks that way because he can cover so much ground with his length.
The first "step" is actually a part of the gather so it technically doesn't count as a step. By the rules, that's not a travel. Umm, it's also a move that Harden does almost everytime he goes to the basket.
