The max salary is a function of the salary cap in that season. Players with 0-6 years of experience can make ~25% of the cap. Players with 7-9 years of experience can make ~30% of the cap. Players with 10+ years of experience can make ~35% of the cap. (The reason for the "~" is that the max salary calculations use a slightly different percentage of BRI than the percentage used to calculate the cap.)

If the cap jumps dramatically in 2016 without any smoothing whatsoever, then a max free agent that summer will make a TON more than a max free agent from the summer of 2015.

In other words all hell is going to break loose. Thank you Bima for the answer.

After talking with Bima and Rockets2K I would like to amend my D-Mo contract estimates. In all probability D-Mo will receive a Parsons level contract instead of a max contract.

LOL - Parsons got an ALMOST max deal - your post is pretty funny.

Let's wait and see if Dmo keeps it up before we denote him a Superstar.

20 games is the point that statistical analysis overcomes small sample size. December 31st versus the Hornets. At that point I will be functioning with a full deck of data. Right now I am sorta flying blind.

Roberts sounds to be one that is going to cause a lockout/strike, but her point on smoothing was legit. It sounds like the owners want to smooth it starting in 2016 when it only benefits owners. There seems to be no incentive for players to agree to smoothing.

He's not a superstar level player, nor will he ever probably be, BUT if he played the rest of the season the way he has been playing for last 5 games, he'd be a STAR.

I personally do not believe it will lead to a player strike. I hope not. But I could see a smoothing agreement between those two partners. Moving $6M per team to 2015. It sounds reasonable to me. And what if the union does not agree? A cap increase of $600M - $750M in the summer of 2016. Sub optimal IMHO. We will see.

I do see a lot of the Gasol brothers in him. But it is much to early to speculate. Time will tell.

Ironically, it's not the passing or post moves that I find to be the biggest similarity between DMo and Gasol brothers. It's their high IQ. They're like baskerball savants.

I think it's safe to say that with Howard out, DMo is now probably the 2nd most important player for the Rockets just after Harden.

No Howard. No Harden. Terry and D-Mo.

    X-factor.

So should Terrence Jones be demoted to bench?

Nah,, we'll need a scoring and defensive spark off the bench when Howard is back. That's DMo. Terrence can continue to start.

dmo might be our second best 1-1 player on the team. he's way better in the post than dwight, not just shooting from the post but getting post position and sealing off the defender.

D-Mo seems to shoot 100% at the line in crunch time situations.

    pretty much

I was wrong about DMo, the more he plays the better he gets. He is much calmer than previous season.
