Has there ever been a case where two sports icons in the same city won MVP? I think that this could be a real possibility for Houston!

What JJ is doing is historical which is why he may have a chance. He's also a poster boy model citizen for the NFL.
If Texans make the playoffs. I think it will be far from a landslide. But if they don't, then you are correct.
I love JJ as much as the next guy but it's not even going to be close. JJ isn't breaking the sack record. The national media see the TD's as a gimmick and the Texans are .500 and not going to make the playoffs. (Now if they win out and make the playoffs.... that would help) And Aaron is on pace to have a record setting year with a team that's a favorite to go to the superbowl. I didn't know players get MVP votes for being a model citizen but I haven't heard of Rodgers running around breaking the law. What Rodgers is doing is historical... Some are even calling him the best quarterback of all times... Murray might rush for over 2000 yards... And Luck has been burning it up himself. J.J. might not even have a snowball's chance. The NBA season is still young.
The thing is there are other QBs not too far behind what he's doing. Even Tony freaking Romo has 25 and 8. It's a passing stat inflated league. There is no one on defense anywhere near JJ watt.
If JJ Watt didn't get held and/or tackled on nearly every play, it would be a landslide in his favor. Dude is constantly fighting through holds, tackles, and bear hugs and still making plays. Unfortunately, Rodgers will win it, but I expect it to be fairly close. I will say that if Watt doesn't win MVP at some point in his career, no other defensive player probably ever will.

Unfortunately? Sure, Watt is having a monstrous season, and I think he should be in the top 3 no question, but we are potentially witnessing one of the greatest seasons a quarterback has ever had. I know it's a passing league, but what Rodgers is doing is other-worldly. If he keeps this up for the final 4 games of the season, he DESERVES to win the MVP.
Umm, care to explain? The numbers he put up that season are absolutely monstrous. One of the best stat lines in history.
This. JJ Watt is truly going to be an all time great. But for JJ to get an MVP...not only will he have to break/shatter the sack record (# like 30 sacks would do it), he will have to have to be on a playoff team as well. If the Texans win out this year and sneak into the playoffs, some can argue perhaps a co-mvp, but JJ is well behind in votes when he is facing people like Rodgers, Brady, Luck and Murray. This is why the NFL should rename the award to: MVOP and MVDP...I truly dont see there ever being another defensive player as the MVP as it currently stands.
Watt will come in 3rd... Rodgers favorite to win it so far. Depends largely on how the season ends. Only way Watt gets MVP is if Houston miraculously makes playoffs this year
