    ^^^^^^^

Generally yes. I have had stuff show "arrived at carrier facility" and just disappear for a couple of days before showing "departed carrier facility". Whatever happens, the fact that their tracking shows it as bring in their possession means you aren't going to be left holding the bag.

I had a package lost that was sent by canada post. Contacted the vendor and he himself refunded me around 80% of the item's worth. Probably never dealing with international shipments anymore since it supposedly got lost in customs.

Yep. They lost a package of mine which thankfully was insured. Eventually, it turned up after 5 weeks. I have no idea where it was all that time. I prefer CEVA.

Does it happen to be one of those packages that UPS delivers to your local post office and they finish off the delivery? I have tracked packages that show to be in the same state for a couple of days, but it is moving.

What was the shipping method? Regular UPS freight?

OT, but I had a package from Dell that arrived to me, damaged; carrier was FedEx.

Talked to a Dell rep, and they told me that I should have complained about this to FedEx too. Not sure what this would really solve, since FedEx would just say sorry and point me in the direction of Dell anyway.

20 years ago I ordered a monagrammed Nambe wine cooler for my brother for Christmas. UPS said it was delivered and left on my porch but I didn't get it. After a lot of back and forth and complaining and hassle, they eventually paid for it and I ordered another one.

About a month after Christmas my neighbor from one street over (same house number) came over with the wine cooler. He had been out of the country. So now I have a wine cooler with my brother's initials on it.

    I know. Cool story, brah.

This is stupid. only shippers can file a claim with UPS/FedEx. You got the run around.

This is the "UPS delivers to local post office and post office delivers to you service".

It might not be lost. It might just be out there trying to find itself.

It doesn't seem like there's a "best" among UPS, FedEx, or USPS. It just depends on the area you live in. For me UPS has always been awesome, USPS I've had occasional problems, and FedEx hasn't had one delivery to me that they haven't f***ed up in like years.

But I've talked to plenty of friends in other states that have had the opposite experience. I'm pretty sure FedEx is so bad for me because their depot is ridiculously freakin' far away. I always get the "we made a delivery attempt, but no one was home!" "Um. I was home all day." "Um... nuh-uh!"

I know the feeling, I've had packages lost in transit from USPS the most. Never experience with UPS so not sure.

UPDATE : So, my package may no longer be lost (although I'll remain skeptical until it arrives at my door) .

They updated the tracking info - and its supposed to be delievered today. The problem I have is - on the automated voice system, it says its out for delivery. When looking up the tracking # online, it says it is still in transit at a facility about an hour away.

which one is right - automated system or online? this is sort of ridiculous.

my amazon package was lost. I waited a couple days and then contacted UPS. They said it had been delivered, so I called Amazon. Amazon resent the package and it arrived 2 days later. The next week the original package showed up. I contacted Amazon to set up a return and they told me not to worry about it. 2 for 1

Isn't economy shipping up to 5 or 6 business days? Didn't you say it shipped out this past Monday?

This year, I decided to get a PT job as a Drivers helper for UPS. I thought it would be a fun job and would get me some needed exercise. Be careful what you wish for.

That job is the most physically demanding job I've ever had. In just under 6 hours, I walked the equivalent of 9 miles (19,000+ steps) and 73 flights of stairs. (I have a fitbit that tracks this).

I have never been so sore. LOL.

In addition, we took no breaks. None. The only time I was not working was when we took less than 5 minutes to stop at a FF restaurant for a cup of water. I was so busy, I rarely had the opportunity to even see where we were exactly in the city as we drove around as I worked the DIAD for the previous or next delivery.

I have a new appreciation for those people. UPS works its people's asses off.

Yes, but in my experience, the 5-6 days is usually worst case scenario. I've gotten plenty of things earlier than the default dates. The package shipped out on Monday, yes, but it was only a state or two up north from where I live.

Any response to what I wrote below?
