You would trade away a big when the Rockets only have three serviceable ones to man the 4 and 5, for a PG when the Rockets have Bev and Canaan to man the position? I fail to find any credence in your assertion whatsoever.

There is always a need for a trade unless you are the Spurs. I feel we don't have to make a trade for the sake of making one. But if better talent is available, we need to take it. Players I think that can make a difference include the likes of Rondo, Dragic, Millsap, Horford.

We probably don't need more depth, but I wouldn't mind another perimeter guy who can do some playmaking and make 3s. For example, Jeff Green depending on the price tag is interesting.

Trade deadline. Seriously discounted assets. I can hear Morey licking his chops from here.

Considerably better than anyone not named Dwight Howard on the roster.

He sure did a job in the first half against Blake. Yeah he can contain LMA. D-Mo is much bigger and quicker than LMA and plays great positional defense. Last season Jones only had one of those attributes. The first Portland - Houston game will tell us a lot. I look forward to it.

I don't think DM wood do that trade for D-mo maybe TJ, and i really like TJ wish he was ready to play now. But to be fair look around the league there are alot of players LIKE TJ but how many like D-mo do you see. Not so much one better or worse, just one is more rare than the other.

I don't think Jones has much trade value in his current state. The nerve damage has to make people a bit worried.

DMo biggest problems on defense are fouls. Dirk and LMA are the two best with a rip move from full time PFs.

That has not been the case lately, seems DMo has figured that out now.

You don't trade 7 footed left handed quick as a cat skilled players.

Dmo is quick enough to stay with Aldridge and he wont let him get those shots off. He will make Lma work for his points in the block which is much better for the Rockets.

In the last eight games D-Mo seems to have the foul issue under control. He played excellently against Dirk, and for the 11 minutes he played in the first half against the Clips Blake had what - 2 points? But small sample size warning. And D-Mo's performance needs to be taken with a grain of salt right now by everyone. Let us see how he is doing in March. I am hopeful.

Absolutely true. McHale and Morey have stuck with D-Mo up until now. And he seems to be blossoming. They will wait and see how much he develops. In the summer of 2016 Howard can opt out. It would be nice to have a backup plan.

And D-Mo, while listed as a left hander, is about as close to ambidextrous as you are going to see in a NBA big.

right now if dmo and tjones are playing the way we have seen. Trading them becomes less necessary to me. Just in November Power Forward and back up center looked extremely weak on our roster. But with Dmo acension and the way Jones looked in that little bit of time , thungs arent so bad. I wouldnt mine trading jones for Millsap or included in a dragic trade.

You can argue who is "better" right now.but Dmo cleary seems to have the better long term value.

Once Jones returns, the coaching staff will decide who gets to start. Makes no difference to me. But yes, D-Mo has a much higher trade value than Jones, an undersized quick PF. D-Mo is looking like an anchor that a team could build an elite NBA defense around. Perhaps sort of a smaller quicker Hibbert. Or an Asik who can actually score efficiently and easily in the post. We will see. The season has a long way to go.

You also start getting the benefit of the doubt as you start to prove yourself as a player in this league. I think that's helping too. He always seemed to have a quick whistle against him.

So three games ago isn't lately when he got into foul trouble in the first period? Since then, he hasn't played a highly skilled Dirk/LMA type of PF with an effective rip move to draw fouls.

Jones is not undersized. You can throw in a lot here but that is a no go.

He has regular size for a PF and elite reach (wing span)..

so he has actually the tools to be that decent defender.....

This. I felt that many of DMo's fouls were a bit unfair. It's what you call the rookie treatment, as the opposite to superstar treatment. Refs seldom gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Sure doesn't seem like it when he's being easily backed down and shot over by any PF that actually has decent size. He's more of a big small forward that can't shoot than a power forward. If he was able to shoot, we'd likely play him at the 3.
