Good job. You figured it out. LOL. Not necessarily. They were trying to get him cheap and couldn't get it done. Situations change. SVG could very well decide to offer him a 5-year max deal this off season if he decides he likes him that much. You have no basis for this statement. After debunking your own self at the beginning of your post you come back with a baseless argument. There's no reason to believe that Monroe has a better chance of getting traded by Detroit than Drummond does.
Look, don't be condescending. No one likes a dick head. Okay, the Drummond and Monroe experiment has been tested. The result? Failure. It didn't work. You add in Smoove? It doesn't work. SVG won't change his much on Monroe and then say, "Hey, you know what? Drummond & Monroe is an EXCELLENT idea even though both guys freaking sucked when they were on the court together. Genius!" Monroe is a solid player, but it doesn't work with Drummond who is also a solid player. A younger player. This isn't a Rondo or Dragic situation. Both of those guys can still end up re-signing with their respective teams. None of them have been regressed to a bench role as of yet, and I doubt they will be regressed to the bench role like Monroe has become. Basically what you're implying is that SVG is more likely to offer Monroe a full max and then trade Drummond, who is on his rookie contract, away so he can get rid of either Jennings or Smith instead of just letting Monroe walk? Or am I just misunderstanding again? YOU, MY DARLING, have no basis for Drummond being more likely to be traded instead of Monroe. I already admitted that Monroe's percentage of being traded has significantly lowered. I've also said that he's leaving Detroit which is at an all time high as off and been increasing since.. i dunno. last season. I mean think about it.. if they were really going Monroe over Drummond.. wouldn't Drummond be coming off the bench instead? lets be real fam
The last person Detroit would ever trade is Drummond. Isn't he 21 years old? Isn't he on a rookie contract still? Next to Davis he has to be one of the best bargains in the NBA.
Sometimes i really wonder if you suffered a brain injury that turned your logic pathways into some sort of goop. You're like the poster child for the idiot side of the Dunning-Kruger effect. The most likely scenario is that Monroe leaves, which is what he said.... Any sort of trade would likely be a cheap purchase for a team wanting to sell its culture, but the chances of Monroe being in Detroit next season is just so much lower than that of Drummond.
Hey boy genius, we're not talking about next season. We're talking about between now and the trade deadline. This talk of Drummond-Monroe began with a rumor that SVG may entertain moving Drummond in a salary dump with Smith and Jennings if he can find a taker and get back decent value. Once again, it's going to be very difficult for Detroit to trade Monroe THIS SEASON because he won't have Birds rights. And you certainly can't use Monroe as a salary dump for Smith and Jennings because Monroe has to be re-signed using cap space and he can simply walk away from the team that he is traded to. The odds of Detroit trading Monroe for good value THIS SEASON are very low. Understand Mr. Hawking?
Lmao @ basketballholic. First the magic will entrain trading Vucevic now Detroit could possibly trade Drummond. Lmaoooo
Nobody here has said Detroit is trading Drummond. What they indicated was there was talk of it. If you don't think these GMs talk all the time about virtually every player then you aren't being realistic. This is simply a bit of information that was received that indicated SVG has entertained the idea of trading Drummond in order to dump Smith and Jennings and get back expiring deals, a good young player, and an extra lottery pick. SVG may have even proposed a trade. Something like Drummond, Smith, Jennings for Terry, KPaps, DMo, and the Pels lottery pick. Now if that trade were proposed, if I were Morey, I'd turn it down. I would not want to be landlocked with Smith and Jennings for another 2 seasons facing the possibility of Drummond continuing to regress like he has this season and having no real assets to package with those crappy contracts to get them out of town again.
You quoted it yourself, this is what was said And the difficulty in trading Monroe isn't in trading him, it in getting much of any value back for him from a team he'd accept, how demanding will Van Gundy be near the deadline with Monroe saying he's leaving? Would one of Boston's "lower of infinite picks they own" work for example? probably, it's amazing how little teams accept when they have absolutely no leverage at all. As for why Boston would do that, it's similar to say what Morey tried to do, the belief that ones own organisation can convince someone to stay in spite of the team not being particularly good at the time (and Boston is definitely an organisation that would look to leverage its professionalism, especially to someone whose only nba experience has been a dysfunctional pile of ****).
Where did you hear there was talk of trading Drummond to Houston? Not only don't I believe there were any talks between Houston and Detroit for Drummond now you have SVG proposing a trade for Drummond. Please come to earth Detroit is not trading there stud 21 year old Center on a rookie contract for a old as **** Terry, Kpap, Dmo and the NO pick. Basketballholic there is a rumor going around Houston and Detroit are talking about a potential trade of Harden and NO pick for Josh Smith. Pass it on!
So.... LOL.... welcome to Clutchfans. What happened was one of the poster on the board who knows a guy who knows a guy claimed to hear something, and posted a Rush video and a David Bowie video that hinted towards the name Andre Drummond with hints. Some more obvious than others. Just think for a second how much basis that rumor has and how hilariously serious people take it. Than Basketcaseahollic does his usual bit where he jumps in and offers his own take on the "insider market", and tries his best to make sense of why the Rockets would be trading for X player. This thread isn't what you'd think its supposed to be. I liken it to the Daily Show & its viewing glass experience of outlets & ways of thinking that come from Fox News & co. People don't really truly watch the Daily Show to just get the news. They mostly watch it to get a laugh at how ridiculous folks on the other side think with their stubborn opinions.
So... 2 days later and there's still people keeping that Andre Drummond "rumor" going? Another day of basketballholic against the world? People are still believing these "insiders"? Oh man...this thread is simply too good! *grabs popcorn*
