Houston In: Kevin Garnett Bismack Biyombo Gary Neal Brooklyn In: Terrence Jones Kostas Papanikolaou Jason Terry Charlotte In: 2015 1st Rd Pick (via New Orleans) This is really just 2 trades rather than a three way, but i think they go hand in hand. Garnett would be a good fit next to Howard with his range and toughness and could split minutes with DMo to stay fresh for the playoffs. The added bonus here is that we'd have the cap space to go after Aldridge, Millsap or Rondo next summer.
Here are some names that might help. These are players that would look good in Rocket red - they are D list players that would fill in needs. They need a new start and are obtainable Kyle O'quinn He is a back-up C/PF for the Magic - when given playing time he fills a stat sheet. Dewayne Dedmon he is the 3rd string center for the Magic. He played for USC. Archie Goodwin he is stuck with the Suns PG/SG he came out of Kentucky way to early and ended up in Phx. He is still raw with out much of an outside/mid-range game but plays D and finish at the rim. He is like a bigger Pat Bev that dunks. He could cover a SF as well. KJ McDaniels 76's back-up wing nice out side shot - odd one year contract. Robert Covington yes the same one that was here and with the Vipers. He has picked up some playing time and doing really well with it - spark off the bench.
Houston In: G.Dragic Piston In: Terrence Jones Jason Terry 2015 1st Rd Pick (via New Orleans) Phx In: Monroe
I don't know about Covington, but the rest of the list seems like solid pick ups. I have actually thought to myself recently that I would really like to go after Archie Goodwin.
Very solid proposals. Probably the best suggestions I've seen thus far. Truthfully, I'd be fine with just the Dragic deal alone. The idea of getting a player of that caliber without surrendering any rotation players is difficult to pass on. Both trades would be fantastic deals for us, though.
Same. While getting Millsap would surely peg us as title favourites for this season, there is a large part of me which thinks we would still contend for many years by simply getting Dragic, and letting Jones/ Motie/ Capela/ Canaan (etc) grow.
At this point Millsap is likely a pipe dream .... Atlanta is the #3 seed in the East. I find it hard to believe they would move Millsap if they maintain a top 4 seed. Phx on the other hand is on the outside looking in .... I think we have to look at a two different types of trade partners - 1) Those that are close to or over the tax line and outside the playoff picture 2) Teams that are rebuilding and willing to give up proven talent for the potential of that NO pick or a guy like Capela.
If we get Dragic, we sort of have a glut at the guard position, unless we give up Canaan. Dragic Bev Terry Harden. There would be no minutes for Canaan. I find it hard to believe Morey is comfortable with our PF situation with Jones being out for so long and no one else that's a natural at that position besides Dmo.
Terrible trade for us, what do we gain by trading two promising pieces for a washed up Garnett and a bust in Biyombo.
You have a point .... but where are they come the trade deadline ?! The other issue there is they are at a serious risk of losing Dragic , I don't know if Millsap has made the same type of comments about free agency. Has there been anything said on the matter ??
Assuming the return of Jones sometime In 2015, I do feel a lot more conformable with our PF position with the play of D-Mo. However, we still need a playmaker who can competently sub for Harden. Unless you guys believe that Terry at 37 and young Canaan can play that role, is that a player that Morey could trade for without breaking the bank?
Mo Williams comes to mind... Minnesota will eventually start to try and get rid of some wins and he is on a one year deal. I hated him in the playoffs last year but since we are embracing the bad boy thing why not?
Mo Williams does have a whiny face, but you are right, he could come in handy to put up some points when Harden takes a breather. I think those are some of the minor moves Morey could make to shore up depth.
This. If anything, the injury to Howard has shown that we could get by without a legit backup center. We lack play makers. If Harden goes down, we're ****ed. We need someone else who can create. We need the Dragon.
No. 12/15 marks the date when teams can trade free agents signed during the offseason. Trade deadline is 2/19/15. If you acquire a player via trade and later seek to trade him WITH one or more other players, 60 days must elapse. Thus, we should acquire players prior to 12/21/14. This allows us to re-trade with one or more other players on 2/19/15. Look for Houston to absorb an incoming player via the Jeremy Lin TPE no later than 12/21/14. I believe a player who we trade for can be immediately traded away, so long as it's only him who we trade away, but I cannot find the rule on Larry Coon's CBA FAQ page. What is the rule here?
