haha that was you? I was wondering about that. Such a roller coaster of emotions, I was down-voted then bam, my first gilded comment, and it was all in the CF family. Cheers jtr. Oh, and upvoting is as simple as making an account then clicking the orange up arrow to the left of the comment.
Where did you post this? Very well said. There are lots of similarities between Asik and D-Mo in their positional awareness, which is hugely under-rated, mainly because it's just not sexy.
And that's my point. Unless the team acquires another PnR player for the second unit, DMo isn't going to get his touches in the post. The second unit currently is too trigger happy from 3.
D-Mo does most of his damage in the post, which only requires an entry pass. That is not near as complicated as the PNR. And it seems like he can punish a defense for doubling. And I thought Morey implied that Canaan was that man.
Canaan is great at creating for himself. He still needs to develop at setting up others. A lot of DMo's post ups have come from setting a pick for James and rolling to the post. My concern is that James has really been the only player that has set up DMo. The coaches really need to work with the second unit on setting up the offense with DMo. It keeps falling apart when James isn't in and they just hoist up 3s.
I think the original plan was to have Dwight come in when Harden sits and let him go to work in the post. More of an inside-out game than drive and kick.
Donuts is reaching his final form. He is also not getting called for every little awkward bump for fouls which happened constantly his first 2 seasons. He is definitely less awkward, but refs are giving him respect finally.
Has Donuts overtaken TJ as starting PF even when TJ comes back? I think so....... However, I think TJ fits better with DHo since DHo needs his touches and Dmo becomes redundant offensively
D-Mo has easily one of the best offensive arsenals in the post - in the entire League. He needs to come off the bench and run a 2 man offense with Canaan. First team defenders can't defend D-Mo in the paint with his moves - second teamers can't either. It needs to be a solid D-Mo and Canaan show when Dwight/Harden are on the bench. That fixes a huge hole of no scoring when the H's go out. I am loving this new found D-Mo. Thank heavens McHale realised his skill set - before he was shipped out of town.
And it ALSO means that H & H can sit at the same time, and play at the same time. Less staggering of their minutes means maximum threat with them both on the court.
K, I'm willing to eat crow on this one (I saw a good recipe for crow breast on the travel channel recently). D-Mo is doing very well. I hope he keeps it up and we can keep him integrated into the offense when Dwight comes back.
