SMH at the Mt. Rushmore discussion going on here. Rudy T is right up there with Hakeem. They are 1 and 1A, or 1A and 1B, whatever.
I like that Bucks fan behind the Milwaukke bench, in the beanie and glasses, that just continues to shake his head after every Harden make.
It's way premature. Harden hasn't led this team to the 2nd round much less the finals. This really his first year as a legit MVP candidate and it's hardly 20 games into the season. He's not there yet though. You are there when you can end your tenure as a Rocket and still be considered one of the great Rockets to have played. In my eyes, he's in the process of passing T-mac but has a ways to go before he is near even Drexler as a legend.
Rockets Mt. Rushmore Hakeem Rudy T (coaching & playing) Yao Moses second tier Calvin Harden Tmac Drexler If Harden continues on this path he'll overtake everyone not named Hakeem.
I agree if you consider Rudy's time as a coach. But if you exclude that then Rudy probably isn't even on the Mt.
All real Rockets fans remember the infamous Toronto game. Some continue to dick ride T-Mac and make excuses upon excuses for him, others forgave him and prefer to focus on the good times, and others still hate him for it.
That's where i'm at. Only player i couldn't forgive was Scottie Pippen. But i think alot of that had to do with his personality. Dude just seemed like a sleeze ball.
I didn't watch the 1984 team or any of the early 80s team for that matter since I was born in 1982 so for me, the Mount Rushmore starts with: and smaller memorials can be added on for: Sam Cassell Mario Elie Yao Ming Tracy McGrady
No Moses Malone? Oh he only won 2 MVP's with the Rockets and had one finals appearance with said team in only 6 seasons. Tell me who else has done that? Yes, Hakeem is the greatest but Moses is easily the second best Rocket and nobody comes close (Harden will when all is said and done).
Moses didn't play in the nba in 74-75, his first nba year was 76, he played 2 games for (what is now the Clippers) the Braves before being traded here, where he spent the next 6 seasons, winning 2 of his 3 mvps. As for the bolded...ummm
I mentioned this in the appropriate game thread, but Harden's game in Memphis earlier this season reminded me of TMac's Toronto game. The dude straight up quit after the first quarter, wasn't being aggressive at all. But it's just one game. Outside of that the guy has been MVP caliber, straight up.
Agreed, when t-mac was a star. During the playoffs he was always the best player on the court for 6-7 games. Just like in the finals last year though we see that being the best player on the court doesn't mean s*** against some teams in the west.
