Not a big star wars fan, probably won't see the new one. You are really crazy or love special effects more than a story.

Same here, 3 should be considered a classic and top 3 in Star Wars.

Everyone has different tastes so I am not arguing, just curious tho. What aspect is better than Return of the Jedi.

Story - Resolution of love story between way more interesting character.

Special effects - steadicam sped up chase scene in forest on those flying motorcycles. Vs green screen 30 minute fight on fire world.

    Revenge Of The Sith

JunkyardDwg implied Empire Strikes Back was his favorite (like most SW fans) I guess I assumed you agreed.

Not popular opinion but I stand by it. A New Hope is a good movie, I love it sure, but it's incredibly slow until the death star battle. And Return of the Jedi started to show some of the flaws seen in the prequels. I think the prequels get more hate than they deserve. Even Phantom Menace has bright spots (but still ranks way, way last). And ROTS has quite a bit going for it, save for Vader's spectacularly bad appearance at the end. But Order 66, Palpatine's manipluation of Anakin, just about any scene with Obi Wan, all well done.

That is the nature of 70's cinema. Did you like Alien?

My ranking is based on classic factor and history a bit.

I agree with him that movie-wise it is probably the best out of all others. It was just so well-done that I'm surprised it's not getting as much respect as it deserves. If they only would'Ve done 3 and left out 1 and 2, it would probably be considered as one of the best prequel-movies ever and seen in the same light as the old trilogy.

Yeah for me I'd go Empire, Sith, Jedi, Hope, Clones and Menace.

As for ROTJ, Han and Leia, the Death Star battle, Vader's redemption..classic stuff. But parts of the film dragged a little, the Ewoks were cute but unrealistic to expect them to beat elite stormtroopers, which they themselves were the worst soldiers ever. Lucas' penchant for reaching a younger demographic (that became obvious in Menace) started to show. And then ROTS had a lot of the darker, character driven elements that made Empire so good.

Love Alien, but prefer Aliens. I know, big action spectacle over the slowly paced, atmospheric, character driven story! But I swear I love a good story. I can just find fun in meaningless popcorn as well as serious thought provoking fare. I'm thinking the new Star Wars will qualify as both, and that's not a bad thing at all.

I have no problem with the prequel "story-lines" and "plot"... I have a big problem with the overuse of CGI and the execution of the plot-twists (honestly, the first movie could have set up the other two much much better... but the only thing that really happens is Palpatine engineers his promotion).

I wouldn't be opposed to a re-boot/re-boot down the road... Abrams already did as much with Star Trek.

I had to sign up due to my sheer amazement at somebody not having ESB in their Top 3 STAR WARS movies!!!

ESB is not only a great SW movie, it's a standalone classic, primarily due to the brilliance of Irvin Kershner and Gary Kurtz.

Why anybody wouldn't have it in their Top 3 is beyond me.

Dear LORD of us nerdy selves... people have different tastes and likes... opinions... they're OK, you know?

I have nothing against any Star Wars movie.
    Quoted for first-post-ever brilliance.

Don't know, it started epic with Hoth and then kinda lost pace/feeling. Watching all the movies at least 1x per year in a period of like three weeks and ESB is my least favourite somehow. The setting in Lando's air city also lacked something.
