    1. Imbalanced conferences: Does anyone care for the first 2 rounds in the east?

    2. Too many games for the first 2 rounds. Do we really want to witness the #8 seed beaten to humiliation for 4+ games?

    3. Way too many teams in the playoffs to begin with. Half of the league goes to the playoffs??

You don't unless you abolish conferences. More games=more revenue, it is a business after all.

Well the simple question is do you want the "real" champion team to win or do you want the entertainment? The only reason the playoffs seem boring to you is because the matches are 7 games long in majority of the cases the better team wins, and as a generally informed observer you know who is the better team.

If all you want is entertainment then have a "March Madness" playoff style where every team just plays 1 match to the championship, then you'd have favorites like the Spurs or Miami eliminated by 8th seed teams. Oh excitement

Personally I think championships by the American football teams and the college teams are a joke, it seems to be more dependent on luck than the actual skill of the teams because if you come out with a flat game out of 99 dominating matches your team is going home.

Of course this is just me ranting, the reality is the viewership for the playoffs are breaking records, and the viewership interest is so high the NBA was able to secure a tv megadeal that is so large it is expected to raise the salary cap to ridiculous levels. Maybe you find it boring but majority of people certainly don't ;)

Reduce the number of regular season games.

Make the last seed a play-in game.

I do agree with making the first round back to a best of 5 games. Much more exciting for a first round IMO.

Rockets vs Mavs would still have been exciting without that embarrasing game 7 blow out.
    Game 1. Rockets 98 Dallas 86
    Game 2. Rockets 113 Dallas 111
T-mac with the game winner. 1 Game to sweep and move on to the semis for the first time in his career.
    Game 3. Dallas 106 Houston 102
Close loss. Still one more win.
    Game 4 Dallas 97 Houston 93
    DAMN! Do or die.
    Game 5 Dallas 103 Houston 100

Followed by a houston blowout and a dallas blowout series win. Boo.

ya it would have been just as good with 3 total games. or 5.

then look what happened in the 2nd round..bunch of 4-1 and 4-2 series.

I don't know...I've always found the PO to be really exciting. I watch every game save the lower east teams pretty religiously.

I like to think of it as two separate seasons. The "playoff season" is like a giant bonus of the best teams competing.

I love the playoffs, but I wouldn't be at all upset if, say, the first 2 rounds became a best-of-5.

Well, it was shocking that the first round was actually exciting for once.

But can you really expect that? It's usually just the high seeds rolling.

    1. yes, and they r exciting

    2. you cant be humiliated for 4+ games, and last yrs #8s take #1s to 7 games

    3. if say only 4 teams go to playoffs houston probably goes in once every decade, some crap teams would never make it, do you want that

if u find last yrs playoffs boring, then nba was never exciting

I don't see how anybody who watched last year's playoffs can say that the playoffs are boring.
Last's first round playoffs was probably the greatest first round in the history of the nba.

This thread reeks of agenda-based ideas rather than reality.

I know I'm going to get blasted for it, but there is nothing more boring to me than the NFL.

I mean, other than the superbowl, I just don't see the appeal of this boring sport.

To me: Basketball is the greatest sport entertainment-wise and everything else.

    1. Basketball
    2. The World Cup (soccer)
    3. Boxing/MMA

NBA playoffs are not boring, unless you don't like basketball

Last year was one of the most exciting first rounds in league history

I think OP means to say the 82 game regular season can become boring

You lost me at "NBA playoffs are boring".

The only thing wrong is they stretch out the 1st round too long to maximize TV viewership during weekdays. IMO, they should schedule 4 evening games and move things along.
