Does Harden have a chance to make an All-Defensive team?

Without that video Harden might not be working this hard on D. Harden earner his reputation for bad D.

That's ridiculous, we're on national TV about once a week. TNT, ESPN, NBATV.

People will come around.

 

It isn't even about the national media not watching the Rockets, it's about them stating that they hate watching the Rockets. There is no way Harden gets recognition when the national narrative says the team and particularly Harden win games through cheap fouls and loads of three point attempts. Yes, they usually admit the team's defense is good but I think that is lost in all the jokes and negativity about the team.

 

Even if we are still the best defensive team at the end of the regular season, outsiders will say it was due to Ariza, PB and Dwight. In addition, those awards are given to players who guard the best offensive player of the opponent. I don't think Harden has taken on that role yet.

 

We're just 1 month into the season. We'll see if he can sustain this. But even if he does, voters tend to be one season late on updating their perceptions of a player's defense. It is more reputation based than anything else.

those kind of things come around a year late. he's having a great defensive year so far, he wont get any recognition until he does it in the playoffs and by then the voting will be over. maybe he'll make it next year.

 

I was watching the Pelicans/Wizards replay and the commentators talked about their MVP pick. Not sure who was speaking but one said Harden was high on his list along with AD then the other quickly jumped in and said "you got AD and guy with no D" Harden can score but that's all he does". It's the norm now to bash his defense without even watching him play. Unless you watch all his games as we do he'll never shed that stigma he's brought up on himself.
