Signs with the Heat... I will be soooooo annoyed with the Rockets If this kid is any good. Athletic, long, HUGE and blocks shots all over the place. (But stupid and immature apparently...)
He used to play for the Vipers, so the Rockets know what he can do. He has all the physical tools but apparently lacks the mental side and discipline. I saw him several times when the Vipers played the Toros in Austin and he was intriguing but you could tell he only produced when he felt like it.
Not sure about Dorsey. Whiteside I've seen several times and his body language on-court and on the sidelines was lackadaisical and disengaged for the most part. I'm sure their sources are not as informed as yours, but the Rockets know what he is capable of and if they thought he was better than what we have they would have signed him.
Dorsey has been lackadaisical and disengaged from training camp until now. He can't beat out Tarrik Black and we got him signed to guaranteed money through next season.
Sorry guys. Thought I posted this in the Dish. Just passing along the signing to who I think is STILL an interesting talent. We can always hope that these kids grow up one day, right? And we are in the market for a backup C, so I am very interested to see how he looks, If he even plays in Miami.
Honestly, the last couple games, I love what he has been doing on the defensive side of the ball. I can see the defensive talent, and the rotations are right on point.
There is no question Whiteside is a r****ded goofus. But........he's 7 foot tall and athletic and does have a 9'6" standing reach. Those guys don't grow on trees. Whiteside is a better player than half the backup centers in the league. He appears to be more lackadaisical than he actually is because he can get up and down the court with little effort. And it's not like being the backup center on this squad is Rocket science. You run up the middle of the floor, take whomever is attempting to root around in the paint and keep rotating defensively back into the paint. Block or alter shots, rebound, run up the floor, set a pick, and go to the rack. That's your Rockets backup center. Whiteside is a superior player to Dorsey. Time will prove it.
'Cause Hasheem Thabeet worked out so well for us, right? I love how you make all these bold proclamations that require the use of a time machine.
