Because Rondo is a free agent that likely won't stay there. It doesn't make much sense to give anything for a rental unless you are chasing a title or pretty sure you can resign them. I'm not saying we are getting Rondo, but we need to eliminate every team that isn't a title contender or someplace he will likely resign. The market is quite limited.
They wouldn't because rondo would walk away in 7 months as an unrestricted free agent. Rondo won't go to the jazz willingly - by most accounts he turned down Sacramento who was willing to trade for him. He will not waste the remainder of his prime for Utah which won't get anyway during the next several years. So Utah won't give up prize assets for rondo, which applies to a of of other teams. Rondo will only agree to go to a contender - if he is traded elsewhere he will point out his imminent departure in free agency at the end of the year. When you look at the possible contenders, most are in good shape with PGs of their own. Not saying boston will deal him to houston. Just saying that the options for boston in a trade are limited. If he leaves in free agency they lose him for almost nothing.
If the Cavs truly wanted to blow it up.. that would make sense. I do not see them trading any of their big3 after anything less than a full season. Jazz are not giving up a first round pick. Rondo re-signing in Utah is a big stretch. Jazz do this so they can be compete to be a 9/10 seed in the West and be locked into a core of Hayward-Rondo-Favors? It is going to be contenders bidding on Rondo trying to buy low based a number of factors but most significantly, his pending FA status. Ainge can gamble and re-sign Rondo to a big deal but has to pray that he can lure another big-time FA to the Celtics. If they fail in FA, They do have plenty of pieces to go after a star via trade but these scenarios are not predictable and can take up to a few seasons to actually get someone of significance. If Rondo were 26 and in his prime, this would be fine. If you think the returns are bad now, wait a year and see what the offers will be for a 30-something yr. old Rondo on 15 million or so a year.
Cool....name 1 player that was re-signed by a team mid-season that was traded months later because the franchise decided to go a different direction. It's not a fluid situation in reality. It's pretty set in concrete. Because I live in reality. Ainge hasn't indicated he is trading Rondo. Rondo hasn't declared he wants out of Boston. In fact, he just recently said he loves being a Celtic http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/24803495/celtics-rajon-rondo-i-want-to-stay-here Just refer back to all the points CelticsFan made. He laid them out pretty well. I'd love to have Rondo here, but the Pelicans pick, TJones, and whatever else we have isn't going to pry Rondo away from Ainge. I know I'm dumb as dirt. Last time I checked Anthony Davis was the best player in the league by a large margin. He may not keep it up, but I don't think he is going to fall off too much. Sorry if you don't want to accept that Davis is monster, but he is. He isn't fragile and he is going to continue to dominate. As long as the Pelicans have a somewhat decent supporting cast they will be above .500.
Dragic is by far the most reasonably available target here. Would not be surprised to see DM make a move for him at the deadline, then use the Bi-Annual to try and sign either Kirilenko or a backup 5 (Okafor?).
I could give a rats A$& what you or anyone else knows that I don't know. If you want to share than great, but if all you do is talk about about how much you know and don't actually say anything that logically makes any sense, how much respect should you really be demanding? Believe it or not, my whole internet existence doesn't revolve around trying to convince the interwebs that I'm in the popular club and you're not invited. That's what it's all about for you at the end of the day. And I don't put you down because you are apparently more connected than Woj and are Daryls #1 consultant. It's all because of the way you communicate as a human being to other human beings. It's actually quite sad honestly. It's a shame too because you could actually be a quality resource to the GARM if you weren't ..... Well you.
Whose more likely to get voted on the all star team this year, Gogi or Bledsoe?? Not necessarily whose better but who is a more recognizable and popular star draw to go along with the production.
What was the name of that thread? I can't seem to find it. I like that nothing has changed other than our leverage. Mid-season rentals are much cheaper. So you trade the highest scoring player from the Olympic team full of all-stars for Rondo and some picks? Rondo is a really great point guard, but almost everyone around the league would rather have Kyrie. I would do this because I believe in Rondo, but I really doubt people around the league feel the same way. Don't forget Rondo has had several major injuries in the last few years and Kyrie is the healthy leading scorer when he was playing with Harden, the Splash Brothers, Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins… these players can all play and put the ball in the basket. Kyrie led them. You use too much troll logic.
Absolutely. Goran wasn't going to cost as much as folks thought to begin with (including the PHX front office)...and is now being marked down more with every day that passes. PHX has screwed the pooch big time.
Kyrie had also a few injuries in his career. Btw Kyrie didn't lead anyone. Harden was the most consistent Usa player in the tournament.
Nene. And it could happen to Faried, Walker, and Rubio this year. (I'm assuming you meant re-signed in the offseason and traded midseason. Or perhaps you mean signed an extension in the offseason off their rookie deal and then was traded which is what would be the case with Rubio, Faried, or Walker. I don't really know for sure what you meant. But if you are implying a certain type of legal trade cannot happen because it hasn't ever happened before...that's not a good assumption.) So Ainge has to indicate that he wants to trade Rondo or Rondo has to declare he wants out for Rondo to be traded???? SMH Now you're making up stuff. I've never said nor do I feel Davis is anything less than an All-Star and future Hall-of-Famer.
The most realistic option is Gogi for a bunch of reasons. - Phoenix's 3 PG situation and Goran not getting the playing time or touches he deserves. I doubt Phoenix would want to lose him for nothing. From a Rocket's perspective: - Goran is familiar with the system and the coach having played here before and more importantly; - Gogi can be absorbed into the Lin TPE perfectly so there would be no need to match salaries. Just give them a few assets and see where it goes. Rondo and to a bigger extent Rubio make zero sense next to Harden. Two brick layers - no thanks.
