You just lumped Bill Walton (maybe the most colorfull color guy in the history of color commentary) with Clyde "monotone" Drexler. Something is wrong.

Clyde sucks at his job. I think that's the jest of this thread.

I don't mind his voice but he is awkward and it's entirely his fault.

He uses way to many figures of speech including an overuse of idioms and metaphors. Many times he will use the metaphors incorrectly or used a mixed metaphor. Because he uses this approach he will make many mistakes and is very malapropistic. He will also prone to mixing idioms. His biggest flaw is using the wrong metaphor for the situation which is where the awkwardness comes in.

Bottom line, if he used more literal speech as opposed to figurative speech he would solve many of his problems. He should stick to that plan until he gets better command.

btw... Calvin also uses a ton of figurative speech but his command and delivery make it sound wonderful.

Looking around the league, we were blessed to have the Murph and lucky to have such homers in Bill, Clyde and Bull. Trust me there are far less entertaining options out there.

Clyde is pretty fake as a commentator in addition to being terrible at it. He's just awful.

I know they don't want to can him, but they should find him another gig. I like Bullard better, but he's not all that either.

Really, not having Calvin in that role is a travesty. Bullard would be more bearable with Calvin there.

I'm not gonna praise Murph's use of literary devices, I will say that his enthusiasm was genuine and his top priority wasn't to be the cool guy. That is Clyde's main objective, to be the all knowing cool guy. Murph would completely sell out and get nuts.

This sums it up for me. 95% of what he says is cringe.

When I watched the Rox at OKC stream, I thought the OKC broadcast team's biggest fault wasn't homerism, but just being plain boring with no personality.

At least Bill, Bull, and Clyde have personalities if nothing else.

"Derek Fisher, class act as a player, and as a coach. I expect no less."

Okay, that one did it for me. Clyde has got to go.
