Kind of surprised they are announcing the verdict of the indictment on a Monday...they were talking about how schools were practicing lock down drills and such, I thought they would do it on a weekend or a Friday to ensure there was no disruption at schools.
Possibly, but no one had started one -- so I figured it must not be all that interesting to most folks, might as well include it in this discussion since it's no longer focused simply on this individual case, but the general belief that our police have gone too far.
They were hoping they could but that is why they did the drills in the first place. Plus I am pretty sure their classes were cancelled today.
Could there be something to this? Are we as a country being drug down to the lowest common denominator?
That possible but in this case they have reported that there is a video so guess we'll have to wait and see on this one.
I'm sure it's been discussed, but why wasn't there a dashcam on Officer Wilson's car? Is that not standard for all police?

I do. Or, a better way to put it, I'd like them to take on a little more of the risk in a confrontation than they do. The essential MO for police dealing with dangerous situations is to put as much risk on the suspect as possible. Bring overwhelming force, respond to aggressive action with deadly force, and shoot for the body. It's understandable in many ways, and makes being a cop a lot more tolerable, but the very unequal power relationship also results in cases like this where kids with toy guns get shot because a cop was acting out of an abundance of caution (for his own well being). Obviously, there is a line where a cop should act in self-defense, and this case with the 12 year old might be one of those, but it seems too often the case that cops are erring on the side of caution and too often I hear people justifying deadly force to be on the safe side. I don't want cops getting killed, but it seems a greater tragedy when innocent people are mistakenly killed by cops than when cops are killed by some miscreant. It'd be better to delay to Wednesday morning. We could have one night of protesting and then go our turkey dinners and football and Black Friday. By the time we get to Monday again, cooler heads can prevail.
I was thinking that was a possibility, but I thought most schools had moved away from a full week off for Thanksgiving break. Obviously every ISD and every state is different, though. Smart of them to wait until 7 to release the verdict though, that at least should allow for most people in the danger zone to hunker down in the relative safety of their homes.
First the Klan know these jokers are about to go there man some people are just stupid. http://www.infowars.com/militant-group-threatens-war-in-response-to-ferguson-verdict/
