We'll have to see what the offense is like once we get two of our best inside players back. It might only look like this right now because the only player who can finish at the basket aside from Jones and Howard is Harden.

C'mon Batkins. Eagerly anticipating your highlights video having been unable to watch the game today. Haven't had much to cheer about since the Spurs game.

I was expecting a rough night for the Rockets, however last night I was pleasantly surprised. With the exception of the 4th quarter (where they almost completely blew the game), the Rockets played one of the best all round games that I've seen for several weeks.

We got a bit lucky in that Dallas missed a LOT more open shots than normal (it wasn't because we had Dirk and Ellis locked down, they just flat out missed a lot of shots), however for the most part the Rockets didn't get burned too much on the obvious stuff in the paint. We do really need to improve our close outs on the perimeter... we gave them way too many open 3's and jump shots.

I was surprised that Dallas didn't take more advantage of Brandon Knight, Dirk Nowitzki and Tyson Chandler down low but stranger things have happened.

That said, with Dwight Howard out it was a good win and an important win given that we're in the fight for seeding. Hopefully the team can continue improving in terms of their defensive rotations (which got burned a lot more than they should have been).

That's some tasty ass crow! Did not expect us to come out of the gates firing & even less to rally back & win it.

All I can say is Fear the Beard & also the defense!!! Great job Houston.

DA is a weird guy. He also does not especially value advanced stats like TS%, etc.

BS.... It was about the money. But yeah Harden's on court coaching that last play really didn't help and tarnished him.

The Rockets perimeter defense last night was very good, especially in crunch time. The Rockets rotations and close outs are remarkably better without Parsons and Lin.

The Rockets are limiting team to 26% three point shooting on the year, number 1 in the league. The Rockets overall are a top 3 defense. Couple that with Dallas struggling offensively against good teams and you have a Rockets win.

It's more of a matter of being very hot from 3 point line as the lead builds and being very cold while the Mavs had their comeback.

The Rockets were 13 of 25 on 3s in the first half, but only 2-21 in the second half. This difference matters a great deal when more than 50% of your FTA were 3s.

I don't think the issue is so much tactics by each coach, but simply the Rockets' personnel. HOU is just full of spot up shooters who are not great at driving to the basket.

Dallas has not beat any good teams thus far. Their 4 losses are against the Spurs, Rockets, Miami, and Portland. This would not be a surprise if it weren't for Dwight being out.

The personnel totally depends on the coach. As we know, a lot of posters would have given Canaan and/or Daniels significant minutes. Who knows what would have happened then (although one more Canaan turnover could have cost us the game). What we do know is the guys McHale put on the floor beat the Mavs.

The Mavs ridiculously cold 3 point shooting played a factor in this game. Maybe it was our D having an impact, but it's hard to judge one game where one team is having a horrible shooting night and the other is missing 3 starters in the 4th quarter.

    Yup.
    We didn't win this game.
    The Mavs lost.

Dirk is not going to go 4-18 again.
And as much as we all hate Chandler he's not going to play this bad next time either.

I'm glad we won, but we better be full strength next time we play or we're going to get beat down.

i agree with you. that being said... everyone was more than happy to judge the rockets on a cold streak against 76ers, griz, and lakers
