Or Morey trades him AND McHale is still a bad coach. I see no reason why both of those can't be true.
I didn't say he was a good coach or a bad coach. I simply said he can't be that bad of a coach having played this game at this level for so long. I am keeping most of my opinions to myself about McHale's coaching. But he can't be bad enough to not see that Canaan has to be in there when Harden sits out of all the guys on the roster.
Why are people talking about Canaan being traded? His trade value isn't that high yet and he's dirt cheap. Those are the types of players that Morey keeps till the end of his deal.
I think McHale's just rather play a veteran like terry instead of canaan.... we need ariza to step up offensively instead of settling for jacking up 3's, especially when the team's struggling and bricking...
Ariza taking catch and shot threes is one of the most utilized plays in our offense. That's exactly what the coaches are telling him to do.
Saw Ariza at the Greenway theater on Sunday. He was coming out of Hunger Games. I think he's an inner-looper. Good job, Trevor. None of that suburb bull****.
I think it's the other way around. Ariza is being forced to create his own shot too often due to the injuries. For example: % of shots assisted Beverley 63% Terry 58% Howard 57% Jones 55% Canaan 52% Ariza 51% Harden 47% You don't want Ariza creating his own shot at a rate resembling Harden. He's at his best when he can be a spot up guy first and a slasher only when they close out too hard on his spot ups. That's not to say he should just jack a three every time he catches a pass, but the offense is never going to be at its smoothest when "Ariza dribbling/playmaking" is plan A, B, or C. That's partly coaching but mostly just injuries. He'll get a few more spot ups once Dwight is consistently available and Jones is back.
Our injuries have taken away a lot of open looks he's had. We need to get healthy and he will settle into his role.
Trollxx loves bumping the Ariza threads. Always the culprit. Check it [them]! Got a Lakers troll on our hands.
Ariza's defense has been so damn good. A friend of mine laughed at his percentages when we played the Pellies and I told him to watch him on defense and he was like "Sheeeeit, you're right. He can keep bricking 24/7 if he hustles his ass off like that". Long story short: Ariza >>> Jordan
It's pretty hard to play 38.3 mpg and bust your tail on defense all game AND have legs to get off a ton of high % 3's. With Brewer here hopefuly we can get Ariza down to 33-35 mpg and I think you'll see those shooting %s increase. We have yet to see a fully healthy Rockets squad yet so I wouldn't put too much faith in any #s (other than our team defense which is legit great) because when Harden and Ariza start getting more rest then they will be more efficient. Also the Rockets have one of the best records in the league and they're doing it with a lot of new players which is difficult (just look at the Cavs).
Parsons was always better than Ariza, but was getting overpaid to go to Dallas, too bad we also overpaid for Ariza's production too. DD
