Have you ever saw a piece of Spam or an Ad on the side of a site decided to check it out and see what it was? How often does that happen? Have you actually bought anything from them? I can say something may strike my eye and i may look into it or click but I don't think I ever bought anything from them. So I guess the kind of work. Rocket River
Even if you don't click on it, you still saw the ad, and those impressions are worth something to marketers. Maybe you won't ever click their ad or even remember it, but 3 years from now, you'll have an opportunity to do business with them or be in a conversation about them and say, 'yeah, I've heard of them.' What annoys me are the google ads that regurgitate what you searched for. If you want to buy a VW Jetta so you start googling around, all of a sudden you get a bunch of Jetta ads. Yeah, we know about the Jetta, we just finished reading the Consumer Reports about it, read the Car and Driver article on the new model, checked prices on it in a half-dozen places, picked out the options we wanted, decided on a color, talked to the car salesman, and made an Excel spreadsheet on what price to accept. We're not going to forget about the Jetta. So what is this ad helping with? We should be getting ads for the Honda Civic telling us why it's so much better than the Jetta.
An unsolicited AD was how I got into digital photography (saw an ad for the Fuji S5100, bought it). An AD was how I found out I could develop my prints online (saw an ad for AdoramaPix, ordered and am still ordering from them). An AD was how I have found out many other things. The two examples above are what make me think Ads work.
Why does McDonalds and Coco Cola still run ads continuously? Ad based business (which is Googles bread and butter) is enormous for a reason. To say they dont persuade you is foolish.
50% of advertisement expense goes down the drain. So no, it is not foolish to say it doesn't persuade them. Digital marketing is different though since there are more analytics involve, like Google analytics for one.
At least one guy on here will go to bass pro shop after seeing this ad........ The ad paid for itself if that guy spends a hundred dollars there.
Do you'll ever run into this garbage where your entire machine basically locks up because the browser page you are browsing to is like waiting on an ad server to respond to finish loading ads on the page. It begins where I am able to move the mouse pointer but not do anything with the browser or web page. Then, the mouse pointer eventually locks up and then my computer lets out a few beeps to indicate it's waiting while telling me to basically "f off". Then, I notice the blue hard drive light is like going like crazy. At this point, the computer is completely locked up but eventually starts responding again. I'm assuming its the ads because it shows it's trying to load something from an ad server at the bottom of the window and just hangs for a while. Maybe it's my anti-virus software scanning the ads or something before they load?
They all work. You may not click on the web ad's directly but they are continuing reminding you about something you're interested in. Right now I see Amazon ads for books that I'm interested in and for more Nespresso pods which I routinely buy. Which reminds me that I need to re-order more Nespresso.
As someone said, advertising online (as anywhere) is about saturation. It builds brand awareness, which in turn gives the product credibility. But again, you have to spent a TON of money to start seeing results.
