I showed the misses a video for Dragon Age and she was sold; she's playing it now and loves it. I'll probably check it out later tonight, I'm going to pick up GTA5 during lunch.

Does it actually work? I was reading on reddit that it's still fubar, and if that's the case I think I'll be returning my copy this weekend.

I think the takeaway here is that you have a wife that plays Dragon Age.

If only my wife supported and understood my gaming life...

In regards to Halo, Ive heard some people still having issues while others are doing fine with it. Seems to be a little hit or miss. In these situations, I believe that most people that has an issue makes it known on the internet, while few of those that dont have an issue make it known. In other words, my guess is that the matchmaking is pretty much fixed, but there are some loose ends that need to be tied up. Or so, I hope.

Believe me, it's taken a lot of effort to get her into this stuff. Half the time she plays for a couple minutes then tosses the game to the side. She played Skyrim for a fair bit, so hopefully she sticks with this one. She definitely goes into full ignore mode half the time I talk about Destiny (even though she's played a couple times).

I'll check it out tonight for myself in between GTA and Iron Banner. If it doesn't work though, I'm taking that **** to Gamestop tomorrow.

Rezdawg is right, that was the major takeaway for me too. You, my friend, have a keeper.

Also, I know Shadow of Mordor has been discussed here. Please correct me if I am wrong, but Best Buy has it for only $24.99 on Black Friday. I probably won't have time to play it immediately, but at that price, I can't pass that up. Hopefully we'll be able to purchase it online, because I am not fighting the masses just for the game.

Looking to get either Forza Horizon 2 or The Crew over the next week.

Anyone looking forward to The Crew? Looks like a pretty fun arcade racer...I think it has potential to be great.

Haha don't buy the crew. Everyone who has played it says it's awful. Ubisoft is holding back reviews until after release too.

Well, I think it depends on expectations. I know a guy that played the beta and have gotten his thoughts. I think some people were wanting a Forza style racer in addition to everything else the game brings to the table. But, this is a total arcade type game, so I think many failed to bring their expectations down from more simulation style racing. Also, there have been complaints about the handling of cars. However, people are forgetting that handling improves when you upgrade your car. This is a RPG racer, so your car dramatically improves as you level it up...in the beta, you werent able to level it up like you can in the actual game, so people were stuck with cars that handled poorly (or unrealistically) during their entire experience.

The map, landmarks, exploration, etc... are all pretty impressive. I'll wait for reviews to come out, but I dont think it will be as terrible as some have claimed it to be. I know my friend was slightly underwhelmed with the beta because he expected greatness, but he's still picking up the game bc of the potential for fun. We'll see how it turns out.

I'm more or less done buying games that have review date embargos. It's an underhanded tactic, and it's being exploited more and more lately; especially by Ubisoft.

Just trying to pass along the info, I think you're better served buying forza horizon, since that game is out and doesn't suck. :)

Good rule of thumb. Same reason I almost never pre-order things unless I'm specifically trying to support the developer (From Software with the Souls game, for example). Not that reviews make my decisions for me... but I like to check out the general consensus before I make the plunge on something. Dragon Age 2 and Def Jam: Icon are two examples of things I'm really glad I didn't rush out to buy. Review embargoes are definitely suspect.

I think the only game I regret buying currently is the Master Chief Collection. I knew full well there was almost 0 chance they'd be able to get everything working without a hitch due to the unprecedented ambition involved, but the nostalgia factor got me. Lesson learned.

Looking on the bright side though, I'm betting the price won't plummet quickly (sort of like 1st-party Nintendo titles, which seem to retain value for years), and I'm optimistic they'll get things working better soon enough. :)

I tend to break my own pre-order rule with, say, the latest Fifa myself. I feel a bit lucky that that hasn't disappointed me lately. Thankfully PES is still there to push them to be better. Unlike the sad state of Madden.

Already traded it in for NBA2K. I don't really intend on buying it again unless it's on sale for $20 either. I gave them 3 weeks to fix their ****, they had to know they were going to have network issues. Pass.

Oh I forgot! The grand-daddy of them all: Watch Dogs.

They did that review embargo **** for it too, and look how that turned out. That was what really soured me this year. As much as I love some of the games Ubisoft has put out in the past (Rayman, Rocksmith, Far Cry, and some others), I just don't trust them at all anymore.

Between their fake E3 trailers, to their self hyping of video games ("Watch Dogs is a revolutionary experience! Blah Blah Blah"), and their sneaky beaver bull****, I'm really expecting the Division to be a massive bomb. Unfortunately, it's also one of the games I've been most excited for.

I have. I own it in fact.

The problem is I also owned Madden 13. And I can barely tell the difference between the two.

Madden kept getting better every year through 2005. Then when they got their exclusivity, the quality plummeted. They've certainly gotten better since then, but haven't returned to the heights they were at before, relative to the time period.

Heck, I really only bought it this year to have a next-gen version. If it wasn't for that factor, I probably would've skipped upgrading a second year in a row.
