Circuit training in a crowded gym is one of the douchiest things someone can do. Go join a CrossFit gym if you want to run around from machine to machine.

I think because he asked me in a rude manner.. "Can I get you to use the bench down there" If he would have said "excuse me would you mind letting me use this bench, its closer for me" something polite and nice and I would have said no problem. First off interrupting me while I am working out is just rude second if you are going to make special requests at least be polite. Never in a million years would I do that to someone. I am nice to people if they are nice to me.

This thread is about etiquette. Of course you have every right to be a dick, but SHOULD you be a dick?

Anyway depending how crowded the gym is, its perfectly fine to work in with someone, especially if you guys are lifting within similar weights.

Sharing the Benches or Squat racks its totally normal.

Asking someone for the number of sets they have left is fine but only if there isn't that same thing available.

The guy wanted to use OP's bench b/c it was close to the heavy dumbbells, and OP wasn't using heavy dumbbells. It wouldn't make sense for the guy to use the other bench b/c carrying the heavy dumbbells to the other bench would tire him out and ruin his workout.

How far was the other bench? A few feet or all the way on the other end?

Yeah it makes sense not to carryy 120 lbs dumbells 50+ feet.

50 feet? IMO, 15 feet is too far to carry a pair of 110 lb dumbbells.

That's not even remotely close to being rude.

I didn't catch where he said that was why the guy wanted the bench. I saw that it was closer to a machine he was using.

At my gym, people pull the benches up to where they need them. Now when guys use the smith squat rack to bench....ugh

He didn't say it, but I've specifically asked him that several times and he's avoided answering so that must be the case.

It's a lot tougher than you think, especially when you don't have a spotter.
