On the national guys going with their lazy narratives of DH missing a dunk and James harden missing an assignment on defense last night?

DM: Did they work Lin into the article? Got to get a billion clicks in if you get Lin in an article.(LOL even Morey knows the Lin crazies). It shouldn't bother you though. At the end of the day they need to get people to read articles.

    On being 7-1 despite schedule.

DM: We need to get a strong start. Have an easy schedule in November. Hardest division in the NBA. Need to get Home court and you never know about injuries.

On K Pap and are you surprised?

DM: He has been fabulous. He is a pass first player. Can be streaky but has competitive fire and some of the passes he throws are fun to watch.

On being the first team in NBA history to start the season with 10 made 3's in first 8 games but less of fast break game?

DM: We have had a good start thanks to good D. Our movements on o hasn't been good sometimes but coaches have done a good job of working on things even on winning streaks.

Difference in the game when TJ is there instead of DMo.

DM: Obviously TJ can push it but with DH and JH our first group can play half court well. We want our 2nd group to push the ball more with Cannan.

On Cuban saying he would take Dirks one legged fadeaway over the dream shake.

DM: Both are great players, both played hard ( Morey not falling for the bait). I do have to run.

Recap: it was a great exciting game. We played really and our was spectacular. Our shots just weren't falling.

Matt Bullard: this is one of those games you just lose. You have a minimum of 12 games

It looked like you didn't want to be on the air. You looked pissed.

It was a weird deal. ESPN pushed hard to do something so we did it. Hard to watch the game and hold back on all my swear words.

That was a very disappointing game, even with key guys out. We gotta find a way to win that.

Dwight not in the lineup, a very, very late scratch. What's going on with that knee?

That's more on us than Dwight. He did have some problems during shoot around. He wanted to get out there. Thought it would be okay but he tested it before the game and not good to go unfortunately.

Nerve damage sounds bad. What's the latest with Terrence Jones?

It's a tough one. It came on quick, unexpected. They don't know what triggered it. The nerve is not signaling his foot well but it's coming back. It could come back as quick as it went. It's longer rather than shorter. It's gonna be awhile is what their best guess is. ... They thought it could be caused by getting hit in the leg in a certain spot. The doctors are confident he'll have a full recovery but don't know when. If he was you or I, this would not be a big deal. He has full movement but just weaker now. Getting back to being a NBA player, that's a much bigger difference.

How impressed are you with Kobe coming back from injury?

He came back from multiple injuries. Not many guys do. He's one of the all-time greats. I don't want to talk about Kobe.

You have some injury issues but you have depth issues as well. Which is more concerning, injuries like Jones or bolstering the roster to get more depth?

I don't know if those are mutually exclusive. We had our 2 best bigs out and we need guys to step up. Frankly, the Lakers bigs beat the hell out of ours. It was our second game where we didn't win rebounding and that was the difference. They took advantage of us having those guys out and that was the biggest difference of the game. That said, we didn't have a lot of strong play. Kostas had a nice game. James pushed through, facilitating. He's getting so much attention he has to facilitate more. They just out-physical'd us. Their bigs beat ours, not much more complicated than that.

We know your philosophy. It was really noticeable yesterday, drive and dish, drive and dish. Is there a secondary offense to get installed to get easier buckets so everything doesn't come from distance?

You need more guys who can break down the defense so we're short there as well. In terms of depth, we do have ways to address it and will attempt to do that. We want to get more early baskets. We had no easy stuff in transition. Having different looks for guys, you still need guys who can draw two, break down the defense, set things up and either get to the basket or create an open look for someone else and we're short on that right now.

    Saturday night vs. Dallas

They're playing great, they got everyone going. They'll be tough. We'll know more about Dwight this morning. Hopefully he can go. Different dynamic to the game, with him or not.

Tough morning but we'll get things going in the right direction.

He talks like if he's our coach. Come down and get that spot Morey. Stop manipulating Mchale with your lay ups and 3's. You not fooling me

"you still need guys who can draw 2 and set things up"

^^^ fits in perfectly with ISO every halfcourt set. no need for more player movement or screens. just ISO. all game, every game.

Damn Morey seeing the issues just like the logical fans here. Need to get with the nuggets and get one of their bigs not named McGee or faried

Thats the answer to everything. Add more defense players, add more offense players, add more playmaker players....

How about just adding a good ass ****ing coach? That ever occurred to him. Calculator so far up his ass.

"coaches only impact +/- five games per season" and "close games are just coin flip toss ups"

also "dorsey was the most elitest defensive force big in the eurozones" smh

Daryl's solution is to get the right players rather than the right system.

Every good coach in the league figures a way to get the most out of his players.

I got furstrated watching TOR play last night because we interviewed Duane Casey. He could have been our coach. He got the players playing the right way out there.

I completely disagree with this. A perfect example is Mike Brown who installed an offense in LA in 2012 that did not fit his personnel and did a tremendously pore job of preparing his team. That Lakers team with a healthy Kobe, Pau & Dwight had no business losing the way they did under Brown.

    good example cited.

and morey's direct quote also completely ignores a coach's impact on postseason games, when the tinyest detail can mean the difference between advancing and going fishing.

Feels eerily similar to 04-05 when all we had was Yao and Tmac. You take both of them out out and no one else can beat you.
