That's the nature of a gamble. To say it may not have been worth it is like putting down $50 on blackjack, losing, then saying it may not have worth the gamble. If DM were interested in simply adding good players to the team he could have had plenty. The gamble, a very high percentage one, didn't allow for that. Thus a very good pick instead of a decent player that would have precluded signing a great one. Same reason we didn't match Parsons. Morey didn't believe he was the third core piece and so it wasn't worth a signing that would prevent us from having the space to sign one. Morey's never done.
and bud fox wants to know: how much is enough, daryl? when does it all end, huh? how many yachts can you waterski behind? how much is enough, huh?
lol I am trying to be nice. We all know his value is in the gutter like Galinari. Doesn't the Vipers have someone we can trade for?
Interesting. Just watched Ilyasova tonight. Would rather have him on his contract than Gallo if we could acquire him for less assets. I think they're comparable with Gallo being the better overall player but with even more serious injury issues than Ilyasova. Ilyasova just knows how to play this game. Really defended Melo well and knows how to post up and spot up. Ilyasova is miles ahead of any PF we have on the roster not named James Harden.
Bud could've buried GG and done better than Darien. If only he'd been tough enough, and ambitious enough, to treat them like assets...
The idea of just bringing in someone is what went wrong in Orlando, nobody is handing the keys to the castle, and getting the wrong player at the wrong price tag means you're in limbo permanently.
I'm more than comfortable saying that there is always a chance that an NBA team actually drafts a player with a draft pick that they own. ....... Note: Chad Ford @chadfordinsider ยท 4h 4 hours ago NBA GM's here at #championsclassic include John Hammond, Sam Hinkie, Dennis Lindsey, Daryl Morey, Bob Myers, Ernie Grunfeld I'd be willing to guess that Morey isn't scouting college players just to throw other GM's off or for leverage in trade negotiations like BBHollic would like to believe. If they go into this Summer, and end up utilizing cap space to sign players instead of trading for them (something they have done two years in a row), they might not have to trade their draft picks regardless. Sometimes GM's actually use draft picks to draft players. I know its very hard for some of you to swallow that Morey might actually not be working a trade for every single Rockets asset 24/7/365.
