Sorry I didn't get around to replying to you earlier Flyer, but I basically second everything that seclusion said. Our tastes and preferences in videogames may be different, but if your only concern is replay value, I say definitely get it. For example, I picked up Sunset Overdrive, CoD, and Halo at each of their respective launches, and I played 1 hour of Sunset Overdrive total out of the 3 (Halo is still in the wrapper). I have found that if I have an hour or two to play videogames, I prefer to play Destiny. I think the leveling up of not only your character, but also your guns and armors is awesome. I never got into MMORPGs, but I am fairly certain that that is where Bungie had its roots for. I always wanted to try MMORPGs, and I have been a big fan of FPS's since Halo, so this seems to be a perfect combination for me. I think you have to put in a little time to play and initially level up, but to me the game really opens up once you hit level 20. And once you obtain your first exotic weapons, then it hooks you even more. There are definitely elements of grinding involved in the game, but it's by design. You also have your typical online multiplayer such team death match or control. You can spend plenty of time enjoying simply doing that. I did that mostly early on, but I have had a ton more fun doing the PvE stuff. Running the weekly and Nightfall missions, which are challenging and rewarding when you beat them. I've also been trying to organize the raid, which is a cool challenge and experience. Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed the game. A few friends of mine simply couldn't get into it, and jumped ship to CoD, but I think they gave up on it too quick. The opportunities, weapons, armor, and experience really open up after the initial story. In my opinion, the true gaming experience of Destiny starts at level 20. In any case, that is just my opinion, but I hope it helps.
Who is down for a Hard Raid? After conquering the VoG on normal, my next goal is to beat the raid on Hard. For one, I am looking forward to the challenge. Two, I'd really like to hopefully get some raid gear to help me get to level 30. So who is down and is leveled-up enough to join. Mojo and I tried to join some randoms, and hard mode is no joke. Once you die; that's it. You can't be revived, and you have to hope the remaining team members can at least get to the next check point. And since it is a level 30 raid, even level 29's are at an inherent disadvantage. Both the level of your character, but just importantly, having your weapons of choice fully maxed out, really become a necessity. That being said, I think at a minimum, you should be a 29. I'd love to get 2-3 level 30's to join as well, but I'm not sure we have any Xbox One Clutchfans that are level 30. Also, for any that have already conquered the VoG on Hard, I'd love to get any tips/tricks/suggestions.
Guerilla, I am down if we can do this on a Friday or Saturday night. I'm 29 and have fully leveled my suros, atheons epilogue, and icebreaker. I'm working on getting my gjallahorn maxed out. I don't know if any of my clan mates are up for the challenge, so I can only bring myself.
Here's the trick.. join a group with 4 30's minimum lol.. I attempted VoG on hard 3 times and I can't get past Atheon . Confluxes is pretty tough as well. For oracles at templar the trick is to wipe and respawn at the top, someone needs to go down to activate it and everyone else at the top just snipe the Oracles should be pretty easy assuming y'all have 300 snipers, preferably Ice Breaker.
I don't know about any of you guys, but I logged in this morning to find this little toy waiting for me (see below). It freaking does tricks, and it can do a barrel roll (que slippy / starfox memes). You get this for free if you pre-ordered the expansions or bought the limited editions (which come with the expansions). I wouldn't care too much if it was on my PS4 account (have the Xur upgraded legendary sparrow), but on my Xbox I was using the default one. Pleasant surprise this morning. http://i.imgur.com/GNc5BqC.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91rmXRXoKqE Oh, by the way...Iron Banner (unless you're like level 28 with nice gear) is a ****ing death trap. You...were...warned.
Sounds good. Starting on a Friday night is probably the best bet, just in case we need to break it up and finish it on Saturday night or something. Nice weapons too, that should definitely help. Get that Gjallahorn maxed out, because it will do some much-needed damage. I don't have one, but I wish I did. I don't think Mojo has one either, so if you can get it maxed out, and we can find another Gjallahorn or two among the team, we should be good to go. Getting a diverse mix of weapons will be beneficial too.
I've completed the hard raid multiple times and here are my tips In general: - Staying alive is a top priority 99% of the time. This means if you're almost dead, cover and regain your health. Do not RAMBO cuz you're going to get downed easily with no chance of revival. If one person is down, it makes it 10 times harder for the rest of the group. - Hobglobins have a "chance" to 1-shot you if you are level 29, so take care of them quickly. Ranged weapons are nice for those far away(I used VoC and IceBreaker combo with Corrective Measure as my heavy for those minotaurs) - Communication is important. Make sure everyone has a mic and that you are able to hear them. Also communicate effectively, there are going to be "Raid Elitist" who think they know everything who are a pain in the butt to deal with. So get a good team with a good plan helps too. The Hard raid is frustrating experience for noobs so it is best to be patient and composed. - Everyone should know how to use the relic. Separates the good players from the great players IMO. Practice in normal mode. - Maxed out weapons help a ton! Minimum level 29 at least but I recommend getting level 30's if possible. Beginning Sync Plates: - its the same as normal mode. Not much tips needed here. Protecting Conflux: - There are 3 waves of protecting conflux - During the 1st wave(1 Conflux), have all noobs stay back near the conflux. A decent number of Hobgoblins spawn so be careful - Now when it says "Templar summons its legions" on the bottom left corner, everyone make their way to the room with the spirit bloom chest and wait for the next wave to start. This happens at the end of each wave/round so you'll do it 3 times. If you don't know where the spirit bloom chest room is, youtube it since its hard to describe where it is since its somewhat hidden. - During the 2nd wave with 2 Conflux(1 left, 1 right), have your better players stay on the left side(harder side) and the weaker players on the right. The way I do it is having 3 ppl on the left,1 watches the middle, and 2 on the right. This is considered the hardest wave of the 3. Minotaurs spawn during this phase, so call them out. For Example: "Minotaur on left" for players on the left. etc. - During the 3rd wave with 3 Conflux(1Left,1 right, and 1 middle). I have two ppl in each but 1 of the ppl in the middle also watches the left if they get overrun. Minotaurs also spawn in this wave. Oracles: - 7 waves(not sure how much in each) - Split 3 ppl on each side. The hardest part is dealing with the hobgoblins from the pillars so we had about 4 ppl just focusing on hobgoblins when the oracles aren't spawned. IceBreakers work well here. - The back left oracle is probably the hardest oracle to get, So I recommend your best player to be around that area. - also the cheese method if you guys don't know about it. Have everyone go to the spawn point, jump up the ledges behind it and with ppl in perfect positions up there, can also snipe all the oracles(back left is tricky but theres a spot where you can see a little bit of it). Youtube the positions since its hard to describe them. Icebreakers are a must for this method. I'll finish my tips later when I have more time
Thanks YSL, this is awesome. Yup, we had joined up with some randoms, and we couldn't get past the protecting conflux phase. I thought they had done it before, but only after they quit did I realize they were not prepared. Everything you said sounds absolutely spot on. I have one quick question: On the 2nd and 3rd waves, would be most effective to have the guy in the middle blast the main middle entrance with a maxed out Gjallahorn? Me and Mojo were discussing things we learned from the failed raid, and thought that would be quite effective. Thank you again for the helpful suggestions/game plans/hints.
I would say that any maxed out rocket with void damage is good enough but the Gjallahorn is good too since the middle can be overrun quickly with enemies. It will be really effective in the middle and the left.
As a quick update, I have been spending most of my time on the Iron Banner this week. I figured it would be more efficient to level up my Iron Banner rank so I can simply buy 2 of the gear I need to get to level 30. This way, I don't have to 100% rely on RNG, and run the raid over and over again. I was able to get to rank 4 last night, so the icing on the cake will be to get to 5 so I can buy the weapons if I want to. Next week is Thanksgiving weekend, which could be hit or miss when it comes to gaming. It can free up a lot of time to game for some, but with traveling or family obligations, it can eliminate gaming altogether for others. If we can get enough folks interested, I should be able to make it work. If interested, please let me know. On a side note, I see that Xur is selling the MIDA Multi-Tool this week. I have heard pretty good things about it, so it will be a welcome addition to my collection. Granted, my collection is nowhere near as nice as YSL's, but it's a start at least, haha!
Hey there Reeko, I can join in and help with some strikes. Sorry about last time, I got your invite, but we were just organizing getting a raid run together, so I couldn't leave the fireteam. I'll be looking to leveling up some new gear and weapons that I got, so running strikes with you can hopefully benefit both of us. Send me an invite, and if I can't join at that exact moment (if I'm in the middle of something), then I'll send you an invite or join your fireteam as soon as I can. Hopefully you got your mic set up.
I'm a sliver from level 25, and like 10 crucible marks from another piece of legendary armor. I should be raid level before the week is over, I've been trying out other games that I picked up (mostly GTA5, but I traded MCC for NBA 2K15 also).
26 finally, friend is almost 26 also. No thanks to loot rabdomizer...got exotic hunter gauntlets for my 23 motes of light...I hate this game. No idea why I play it.
lol this is what i was talking about...seems the random item drop generator just infuriates everyone haha. i wanna try the game...but hell i haven't rented a game in forever...theres no more blockbusters...how do you rent games now? gamefly?
I really need to dust off Destiny and give it another whirl, but I'm currently replaying through GTAIV, have Sunset Overdrive, FIFA 15, Madden and Assassin's Creed sitting there waiting to be played. This is a crazy time of the year for gamers.
