So sad, so sorry to hear. :(

I know and feel your pain. Ours just passed on October 31st, bawled my eyes out. So hard to say goodbye.

You said it well: hug 'em, give 'em an extra treat and cherish the time with them.

    Man's best friend indeed.

    RIP Buford.

Awww Buford was a handsome dog. He seems to have lived a full life and he was fortunate to have so much love.

You had the best years with Buford and that's all it matters.

Getting a vet to your house is the best decision...I'm definitely going to go that route for my dog once it is his time.

    RIP Buford!

You're a good person for providing a loving home to Buford. It's never easy to lose a dog, and I offer my sincerest condolences.

Sorry about your dog. I know how pets become part of the family. Prayers of healing sent your way.

Sorry about your dog. Nothing worse than that left over void in the house where the dog used to be all the time. It doesn't feel like the same house after that. As silly as it sounds, I still say good bye to my two dogs who died over 4 years ago sometimes when I leave the house. I say the same thing I did when I had to leave them alone when they were alive. Unfortunately, they are just ashes in boxes on the mantle over the fireplace now with their collars draped over the boxes and with an uneaten fortune cookie for each from Panda Express that they use to love to munch on. Nothing left but memories and those seem to fade a little more with each passing day.

So sad. The brutal thing about bringing pets into our lives is the knowledge that they are going to be with us for such a short period of time.

    RIP Buford.

I'm sorry about Buford. My 17 year old beagle died a year ago.

I had a friend commit suicide today so I'm also in mourning. By no means am I hijacking your thread, just wanted to let you know that everyone will be there for you when these terrible things happen. You seem to be a wonderful dog owner.

So sorry for you man. I currently have my first dog (who turns 2 in February) and I'd be an absolute wreck if I lost him, and I've only known him for 20 months. Can't imagine how bad it must feel for you. He was a good looking dog, and it's very nice to hear that he had a long life with caring owners.

Maybe if I become disabled and have to stay at home all the time? Will you disable me? Just get a lead pipe and hit me right here in the noggin! ;)

tl; dr, but don't take it the wrong way. Anytime I hear about animal abuse or someones' beloved pet passing it just makes me sad. If humans were as loyal, loving, and forgiving as dogs this world would be a better place. One time my dog grabbed my food from the table when i went to the bathroom. I flipped out and yelled at him. I felt bad the following day when he greeted me when I got home from work like he always does.

I completely understand where you are coming from. My dachshund died in September at the age of 15. He made it with me from Kindergarten all the way through high school and some of college, a childhood pet in every sense. It's really tough now because I feel that there has not been a day that he was not with me.

So sorry for your loss. Went through this three times in a span of about 18 months about eight years ago with our pugs. Toughest thing I ever had to do. Someone shared the Rainbowbridge poem with me, and it certainly helped a bit. Hang in there my friend.
