Maybe Terry sits against the Grizzlies and Canaan gets all the backup minutes.

The problem with the backcourt is it's bad to ordinary whenever Harden isn't in there. A far cry from the days when the bench would out produce the starters.

If Canaan doesn't play tomorrow night while Cisco gets another 13 useless minutes, I hope for McHale's sake the Rockets are blowing the Grizzlies out of the building.

    I really don't get it

Terry and Canaan should both get minutes

I like what terry brings but he only brings shooting offensively

Canaan is the only guy on the bench that has a multi-dimensional offensive game, he should be the 6th man if anything

Very disappointed and curious why Canaan want getting any burn tonight. He's good for at least 10 and a few 3s which will open up the floor for everyone else.

Not sure what you're arguing, as that is exactly my point. Terry has been the first PG sub in every game so far this season when Bev is healthy, and MIA is the only game where Canaan got more than garbage minutes with both Bev and Terry good to go -- possibly because they realized Bev was still not 100%, given that he went right back out again after that game. I'm not saying it's a good decision or makes sense. I'm just saying based on the pattern + Friedman's tweet that it seems like McHale doesn't intend to give him run if Bev and Terry are healthy.

And to me that is just bad coaching. Every game is different and if you can't make adjustment accordingly then you're not a good coach. We desperately needed some scoring from the bench and Canaan could have been that guy.

It's awful coaching. Canaan has been clutch as hell in 4th quarters, hot from 3, and is just about the only person other than Harden who is a threat in the lane. I would've gone with him over Daniels, tbh. And frankly, I kinda wonder if Daniels has gone relatively cold b/c he doesn't get enough time to get/stay in a rhythm.

McHale seems to have an inexplicable affinity for Garcia, though. He stuck with him for a loooooooooong time during that huge slump he had last season.

If this crap continues expect Morey to force mcfail's hand by trading Cisco.

Garcia has to be on his way out if we trade for Brewer.

Sometimes you have to force your coach into the right decisions. This may be one of those times.

Yeah, Garcia inexplicably getting back into the rotation doesn't make any sense.

I think it's just matchups because Lamb is a fairly big guard. Otherwise, it would make more sense the Rockets play 2-PG sets when Harden is sitting. The league's getting smaller anyways and I have to think Canaan or Beverley can guard some 2s for limited stretches.

Cisco is still my 2nd favorite Rocket behind Bev -- hangover from the 2012-2013 season, I guess? I dunno. But he's basically useless these days. I do think he's a positive presence overall, but the best thing about him this season and most of last was that he seemed content not to play lol.

Canaan should play tomorrow for Memphis. He'd do well against Conley and Lee. He at least deserves the chance. Terry should only back up Harden. Or go small with Harden at SF.

IIRC Canaan's 8 min against the Jazz was in like the 2nd quarter, not garbage time. McHale has been pretty inconsistent with Canaan's playing time. Can't be good for the kid's confidence either.

I am not sure why Daniels instead of Canaan played today. There was a sequence where a rebound was coming towards Daniels and he made no effort to get it and Ibaka was able to run in and grab it. All the Rockets players got on Daniels case for that. Daniels if he isnt hitting his shot offers very little on defense and offense. Canaan at least has shown to really try hard on defense and has gotten very adept in driving to the hoop and not just settling for the outside shot.

Hopefully he was just making sure he was ready to go against Conley tomorrow night against Memphis

He's not a good player, he's a great player who didn't play a single minute for us this evening. Perhaps McHale will call on him to handle the load against Conley tonight, if he doesn't then something is fishy.

Guys, we are 9-1. I can't believe you are b****ing about Canaan. Just enjoy the record. What are you talking about we needed Canaan? Morey tweeted our offense was top notch. 9-1 guys.

From starter to no minutes seems odd, regardless of how you feel about the team, Canaan or whoever. The hate for Garcia is strong when he was in fact a great defensive presence in this game!
