-None of then addresses the Lakers' #1 problem: defense, and more specofically rim protection. But good rim protection is difficult and expensive to get. The Lakers were unwilling to hand out longer contracts-- except, puzzlingly, to Nick Young-- and you are not getting a decent free agent to sign with that team without paying or getting really lucky. The only really good rim protector that changed teams this summer, as far as I recall, is Omer Asik. Kaman (who left the Lakers after an ineffective year under D'Antoni) and Hawes are maybe the next "big names" that did, but they are only backups. - The Lakers offensive stats actually look OK thanks to FTs and ORebs. But it still looks ugly. They are trying to run those Adelman Princeton type sets with Jordan Hill and Carlos Boozer passing out of the high post. These guys are really not that good at it and they don't often get good shots out of these sets. And then they resort to Kobe iso-ball. Way too many shots took a struggle to generate and not enough open easy opportunities.
I glad the Lakers suck and hope they continue to do so for many years. Before Dwight left them, on their boards, some would suggest a Dwight for B. Griffin trade, most said "no way, he's not laker material" and I remember another being Dwight for Asik and Parsons, and yes I know that was never going to happen, but what did they say? "No way! We don't want the Rocket's junk." "16 Championships" (even though 5 were won in another city, in front of other fans and they even have a different banner for those chips, but they sure do like to brag about ALL of them. If the San Diego Rockets had won a championship, I wouldn't claim it as a Houston Rocket's championship. "Most storied franchise" 'We are the Lakers, we don't tank" "Every superstar wants to come here" "Mitch will wave his magic wand" GTFO
Wouldn't that be funny if Kobe only took like $16 million this year, and they took the remaining $14.45 million from Kobe's salary and paid a really good player to help Kobe make the Lakers not violently suck?
why would kobe do that? Even if they paid another superstar or all star, they would still suck (unless a legit 5 like Noah or Cousins or Davis, which is almost impossible). Just look at their bench lol. They have freaking Robert Sacre
Well, they did get someone and are paying him around that this year. He is just not really that good. Lakers are screwed and...
I think you misspelled Kobe. Because when your leading scorer and 'superstar' is shooting 36% overall and 29 3P%, that is clearly your main problem. Just can't recover from one guy taking half your field goal attempts while shooting 36%.

It's not a matter of who shoots on the Lakers team. If their defense is this terrible they won't win.
