I like him. I think he will progress. If not, it isn't like he is making max money.

    This begets the question . . . . . "Are we psychic?"

There are a lot of people with questions on here just like this wanting to know. I can tell you.... no.

Honestly, know one knows the answers to these types of questions! No one, not even Morey. You just need to wait and watch it unfold.

Stopped reading at "Well guys will say he is playing solid D ". That is nothing but wishful thinking.

so far Black's defense consists of the occasional foul shot and charges he tries to take that often conclude to blocking fouls so far.

I read at least 4 posts in live game threads where posters say he has had a solid game on D after him having his 2 points and 2-3 boards kind of performance.

He needs development rather sooner than later. We cannot give him a lot of playing time.

Heck, Earl Clark is chucking 21 shots in the Dleague. They can take shots like superstars in the Dleague last time I checked.

Not a problem daywalker. You prefaced it perfectly with "Guys said". I understood. My comments were not about you.

In context, he's been a nice find. Got a ways to go but he is big and hustles. I'd be happy with him as a 3rd string center.

He is absolutely entering the conversation. Anyone who would say Joey Dorsey is not a real Houston fan.

How about none of the above. They are D-League players who may develop someday into NBA players. After Howard, D-Mo and Jones the Houston big rotation is just an absolute black hole.

I still think we should have given more of a chance to Capela.

He put up 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots in just 12 minutes!

Can't be any worse than Dorsey and Black!

Black's has rightfully claimed the defensive backup big duties so far, but I'm still holding out hope for Dorsey. Barring a big man trade, he'll get an opportunity for minutes sometime in the season, and I hope he stays ready for it.

Dorsey may not be overly big or offensively versatile, but he's pretty mobile and knows how to make his presence felt on defense. I think he's better suited for a backup unit that thrives on speed and lives off quick transition opportunities. Maybe like the Lowry-led bench mob of old, or Harden's first season as a Rocket. Not sure Dorsey's strengths match the needs of the current second unit, though at this point I'm not sure just what the bench's strengths are. Maybe that's the bigger problem, that the backup unit lacks a certain cohesiveness.

Anyway, I'm probably one of the few posters who think Dorsey is more capable than what he has shown.

Dwight averages 39 minutes in the playoffs first of all. He plays more minutes than Asik. Second of all defense is defense. I don't give a damn if the defense is better because of rim protection or better because of improved perimeter defense. The bottom line is the Rockets team defense is better this season with Black/D mo than it was with Asik last season. I am giving credit to the team as a whole for their emphasis and commitment to defense, not saying those guys are better than Asik. The bottom line is Asik cannot play with Howard and that severely limited his usefulness to us. If he was Spencer Hawes or Jason Smith he might still be here because he could play the 4 on offense and hit a perimeter shot. To pay Asik 15 million to play 12 minutes a night and pout is stupid and he could not play next to Dwight to play anymore minutes than that. With Asik we got bounced in the 1st round. Now get over it. Please.
