That's because they had injuries last year at the beginning of the season... including Marc Gasol. When he came back, they started dominating again and had one of the best records in the NBA if you count from when he returned to the end of the season.

And I'm not mad about this win. The Rockets shot the ball horribly. They were like 7 for 34 from 3 for like 20%, shot like 30-something percent from the field, shot like 60% from the free throw line, had 21 turnovers, and STILL found a way to win.

Glad to see the win. It's a bit concerning that the team took the 76ers so lightly, it almost cost them the game.

    Hopefully they continue to mature.

Grizzlies started slow last season because of injury. They've been very consistent the last 3-4 years when healthy.

Our division is a beast... the best in sports. The bottom feeder (Pelicans) could win 45 games.

And if he doesn't pan out , you all will still complain. We are balling right now so lets enjoy this good fortune. Lol

The Rockets played like crap. But it is impossible to make a case against a team that has two starters out and is still 8-1.

Rockets will start losing games in droves if they don't play better. They have been lucky with this soft early schedule.

Let's not overreact. They played like crap last night, but they've also won 8 of 9 games and last night was their first win by less than double figures. I don't care what your schedule looks like. That's a hell of an impressive feat.

Sorry, I personally do not agree with this. We have played very well. Most teams would be at 3-4 wins with 2/5 of the starting line up out. We are 8-1 right now. A few things that I felt made this game look uglier than it really was:

    - Sixers were HYPED to take us down after their last hugely embarrassing game. Despite our horrid shooting, we held down this young team bucking for redemption. That alone says a lot. We would have lost this game last year.

    - Did I mention our shooting sucked balls this game? We laid down enough bricks to build a small city last night. That usually doesn't happen and when it does, we usually lose.

    - Any game where you rely on DEFENSE to win and close out is usually going to be an ugly grindfest. Do you remember JVG Rockets? Every game was ugly under that regime. Sometimes wins are ugly. We can't blow out every team by 10+ points.

Look at it this way. We are up 8-1 WITHOUT our starting PG and PF. There is no way anyone can argue that is not impressive. Just my thoughts.

I've been a Tony Wroten fan for a couple years now. Only thing soured me a bit on him last night was his FT shooting. If he'd made his FTs, they'd've won the game.

But those two starters are the two weakest starters, relatively speaking.

It would be like the Thunder having Durant, Westbrook, and Ibaka but are missing Steven Adams and Jeremy Lamb.

I like his game also, but if the Rockets would have made their free throws, this game would have been over a lot earlier. And that mainly falls on Dwight.

Using the same logic, if we only made our 3 pointers like we normally do, it wouldn't be close.

There will be lot more games like this where we can't make shots. I believe the goal is to make our defense good enough that even on bad shooting nights, we still have a shot at the end.

    Droves?

The only way they lose in droves is injuries.

40% of their starting like up has missed most the season which is a big deal for a team short on depth.

They are almost guaranteed to add rotation caliber players at the deadline as well.

Right now they are 8-1. If we assume they will finish 54-27, they only have to go 45-26 the rest of the way.... Which means beating bad teams and the Eastern Conference teams.

Beverly and Jones are more important to the Rockets than Adams and Lamb are to OKC. Also depth is an issue for the Rockets.... Missing those guys also weakens the bench.

You're being disrespectful to TJ's playmaking ability, Beverley's tenacity/defense and what it means to the Rockets

How long until we say the Rockets actually have depth? Rockets missing 2 starters which puts bench players in Canaan, DMO, Black, JET, and Papa into more prominent roles. I don't know if its a testament to how great Harden and Dwight have been or maybe we are discounting how good the bench players have preformed in their temporary roles.

Look at teams that are considered to have depth that have minimal injuries (GSW) and have none (Clippers, Dallas) that are currently behind the Rockets in the standings.

on the flip-side if Dwight had made his normal 50-60% of free throws, then we wouldn't have been in that close of a game. Dwight was 3/12 from the line.

Last night was a weird game.

It made me question whether this team actually has shooters or not.

Besides Terry, I really don't feel to confident when we have an open guy behind the three point line.

James Jumper is super flat to start out the year as well.

Missed the game as I was on the road. First in "many many years"

7/34 from the three point line is laughable...this game should have been a blowout
