Meanwhile, Stanton discussing a $300 million dollar deal with the Marlins will certainly help set the market for Springer. The money in baseball is just ridiculous right now and only getting more extreme... teams are just flush with cash.
That's crazy money. It will be interesting to see who Stanton is playing for in 2016. The Marlins are just packaging him up to get a bunch of young prospects from one the big spending teams, IMO. No way that he plays more than 2 years for the Marlins under that contract.

Or, if he builds his "value" back up that means he is playing good, so maybe we should actually keep him and try to be good! Or we could go ahead and get more prospects to make the minor league thread the main one everyone posts on for another decade or so?
Not sure he'd have a choice if he signs a 12 year guaranteed money deal. Also, the Marlins are closer to contending than the Astros, or most other big money teams are.
300 mill for Stanton by the Marlins? None of this adds up. I would bet Stanton wont ever be the same player especially if pitchers throw high inside heat to stay in his head.
With the way salaries are escalating, 10 years from now $25 million per year may be a steal for a player with stantons abilities. Also, if pitchers can come back from line drive head shots, I expect Stanton to be able to step in the box again.
You never know. Dickie Thon was an all-star who became a bench/role player. Similar thing happened to Justin Morneau. It would be a huge risk to sign him before seeing him play again.
Well, since we started worrying about his mental psyche, his contract value has gone up to $325 million. If he hadn't gotten hit in the face, would he be getting $400 million?
doesnt look like mccullers is happy that were looking at the top shelf closers. this was his response to mctaggert's tweet seen above, re: romo, robertson, miller: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/brianmctaggart">@brianmctaggart</a> <a href="http://t.co/Oz2bNM9oxD">pic.twitter.com/Oz2bNM9oxD</a></p>— Lance McCullers Jr. (@LMcCullers_41) <a href="https://twitter.com/LMcCullers_41/status/533096643126902785">November 14, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
McCullers cries a lot, doesn't he? If he's got value, why not ship his whiny ass in a package for something we need?
I would think if he was offered $300 million guaranteed dollars, the no trade wouldn't be as big a deal at that point Just sayin
