got nothing to do with being bitter, maybe the guy just doesnt like model wannabes/club boys like Parsons seems to be and he considers such people douchbags. Maybe it had something to do with things that have been said by Parsons? I know very few people that are bitter in any way over this, some wanted to keep him and felt the team would suffer but those cries are disappearing fast as the team shows it is actually better without him.
It's not why he left, it's how he left. Parsons was a fan favorite in Houston and the fans were all for Morey overpaying for him (even without Bosh). I want to make it clear that most of the fans are not mad at Parsons for taking the money, because most would take the money in his position. It is even less so about where the Rockets are as a team Fans are pissed at the surprising and constant shade throwing at the city of Houston and The Houston Rockets, the city that embraced him and the team that gave him his start and showed confidence in his game when no one else did. No other player that has left the Rockets has shown as much disrespect than Parsons has, not even Barkley. There have been players that have left under worse circumstances that have shown more class than Parsons. Look at Lin, who was much maligned here in Houston, not nearly as loved by the fanbase like Parsons, has been constantly baited by LA media to get a sound bite about Dwight, Harden and Houston, and not one bad word.
Look at the other stats, bro. Especially free-throws that Harden had made has drastically improved this true shooting rate. And I'm not even talking about his defense and assists. Let me say it this way. Harden 39% and he's a better player than last year. Parsons 38% and he's deadly overpaid role player.
I'm starting to believe the Rockets could have replaced Parsons with a flat-out average SF who plays average defense and the team would still be better than last year's squad. I think Parsons had me fooled to a degree but I'm only now realizing how empty his stats were/are. He has a knack for making big plays that make his fans not notice overall the negative factor he is on the court. That isn't sour grapes either. I liked the guy and thought he was worth up to $12 million a year but had no problem parting with him when the price was too high. I also thought immediately that the team would be better with Ariza than Parsons but I didn't realize just how much better until seeing the Rockets without him and Dallas with him.
http://dimemag.com/2014/11/photo-starbucks-employee-writes-dirk-chandler-parsons-coffee/ portions is offended......
I get the feeling that someone at Starbucks read that Dirk says dinner is on Parsons every night because he is getting Dirk's money. This barista probably thought it was funny to let Parsons know he figured Parsons was just picking up Dirk's coffee for him.
That's ridiculous. But I think people are going too far the other way. He's still a good player. His defense is no longer good tho, which is strange.
Like Rockets2k said, the guy just can't keep his mouth shut. Instead of just saying thank you and moving on, he takes shots at the Rockets and Houston unprovoked. He used to be my favorite player here, but this whole ordeal has really opened my eyes to the kind of guy he truly is.
Lol. 25/6/7 are great stats that not many people could average over a season. And the guy still has a TS% hovering around .600. So I would be hard pressed to argue that Harden is overpaid.
No, I'm saying that Parsons is a big waste of money. And you should look deeper into numbers before posting them.
This ^^^^ I would add the contract signing at the bar with those photos adding to some peoples sentiment as well.
I assume it is because of the way he left. The Rockets made him and thanks to the Rockets he was able to cash in. Some fans feel disrespected. Personally I don't care either way because he has been adequately replaced. But I do admit to looking at the Mavs box scores after each game.
I would think fans cheering against success of an ex-player to be self-explanatory, but I guess it’s not for many. Basically it boils down to this. Any time a team chooses to let a player go in FA, they are saying the player is not worth his contract. Either the team is correct, or they are wrong. As fans, we want our front offices to have the capability to make correct decisions. Parsons sucking validates belief that Morey is smart to not match and that Mark Cuban is dumb to think about giving him that contract. Plus, Parsons sucking has the extra benefit of him looking like an idiot to dump on Houston, Cuban looking like a moron, and Morey vindicated for any future possible FAs. As in, “Hey! We are about chemistry too. That’s why we got rid of chemistry killer Parsons and replaced him with glue guy Ariza.”
I got the following feedback on my rep for the above post. The Rockets will have lots of flexibility when Harden and Howard are gone. No championships but lots of flexibility. Glad you are happy. Just LOL.
