I could do without the wind though. Cold & windy is just as crappy as 105 in August. And good lord do I not miss swamp humidity.
Get some better kit and it won't bother you at all. If ac suits were readily available I wouldn't mind 105. I can put on some gore tex and laugh at 30 degrees.
This is not cold, it's been 40-50 most of the day up here and I'm in shorts and sandals. 30 ain't cold either, it's those lovely 20ish degree days with a 25mph north wind that I really dig, even with a Cabella's jumpsuit on. Haven't found a good pair of gloves that provide warmth and dexterity. Sucks having to constantly be taking them off to do precise little things. Any ideas?
Well if CPC (Climate Prediction Center) is accurate about this 8-14 day outlook, we have a much stronger blast of cold air coming down in about 10 days. The first four digits of the numbers on the bottom right of this map are the years followed by month then day. They reference analog years in which similar systems take place. History likes to repeat itself so meteorologist use analog years to predict long term forecasts and so on. Take a look at the winters during those years and that is a good indication of what we will have this year. 1989 is mentioned twice and Houston Record Low of 7 degrees was in December of 1989. 1989 also saw two separate snow events where the snow was measurable on the ground. 1977 the average temperature in January was 37 degrees 1958, 1964, 1989 all recorded measurable snow fall. Other years cold have seen snow but not "measurable" at IAH airport.
Everyone in Houston and surrounding areas, please keep your Ctrl+Alt+Del keys handy tonight. Your Windows could potentially be frozen.
Umm...this November is nothing. Did we already forget about last November? At least up here in D/FW, we had an early November snow storm that basically shut down D/FW for two or three days. Houston must not have been hit nearly as bad.
I wouldn't mind this so much if there was a break every few days. Usually it gets cold and then it's in the 60-70's for a few days and so forth....going back to early in the year, the cold just seems to stick around a lot longer AND it rains. Hard to do any yard work like that. It just piles up.
Loving the crisp air. The winds make it a little chilly, but love the cooler temperatures. Cold couple of nights around East TX....Nac going to be in the teens.......it seems so early for these temps.
Doesn't look like it. This type of cold is pretty rare for early November. http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KDAL/2013/11/13/MonthlyHistory.html#calendar
it's worse case scenario with these meteorologists but they never tell you the most important thing....Moisturizer, brehs!
We have about a 58% chance of El Nino forming this winter. If it does form, it would result in a cooler and wetter winter for the South.
This freaking sucks. I live in Houston for a reason. Give me back 90 degree temps Yes I'm a baby. This cold weather isn't for me
