Dennis Schroeder is starting to already look like a good starting NBA point guard. Hawks absolutely love him and are beginning to increase his minutes more and more. Tonight he even was closing out the game over Teague in the last few minutes of the game. Even though he's off to a great start, and still probably unlikely, I wonder if Teague eventually becomes available this year, and what the market for him might look like.
Ariza, Bev, Jones? I'm actually don't think its out of the realm of possibility they'd trade Millsap, I'm not convinced he and Horford together is the best fit, they don't really compliment one another. I think you either have to pair Horford with a bigger center, or a stretch 4.
Schroeder was compared to Rondo during the draft. Atlanta would be wise to dump Teague in a Jrue Holiday kind of deal and roll with Schroeder and Shelvin Mack. I hear Miami may be in need of solid PG play...
10 games out of the playoff spot? I don't think it's a matter how much the Rockets are willing to give up, but rather how willing Atlanta is to rebuild. For whatever reason, they love their mediocrity there.
I'd take Teague, Millsap and KORVER and go all in with them. TJ, NOP 1st, Pap, plus whatever else it takes Teague / Bev Harden / Terry Ariza / Korver Millsap / Dmo Howard / Black
Why would ATL do this rape of a trade? Only if Morey has his hands on another racist email or phone call.
It would take Hawks tanking and new ownership in place. Teams just don't trade away the present for the future when they are even somewhat competitive. They also don't make big moves when ownership shares are being sold.
The controlling owner wants to sell his stake in the team before year end. If that happens, that should give the new boss enough time to evaluate the team and shift gears before the Feb 19th trade deadline. Hopefully the new guy won't settle for mediocrity and will get down to business making deals to build their future. Trading Millsap and/or Horford has to be in the cards if the Hawks are serious about building a contender. CH, I'll be surprised if the sale drags on but price could be an issue if Levenson's expectations are out of whack based on Ballmer's price for the Clippers.
I used to be a big fan of Teague's but he dropped off last year and his numbers are down again this year too. I haven't watched much of him (although he looked great in the playoffs last year) but I'm not convinced he's worth locking down our cap for the next couple years. Come on, Danny Ferry! I know you can do it!
We won't trade for Teague unless we are getting Horford. Something like.... Beverley or Canaan to a 3rd team for a protected 1st Teague into Lin TPE Horford for Papanikolaou Capela TJones Daniels NOP 1st 3rd team 1st Canaan / Teague Harden / Terry Ariza / ? Horford / DMo Howard / Black
Reg intentions of this thread (talk about Teague to Rockets): Teague would pretty much eliminate the Rockets free agency hopes this Summer & would eliminate the ability to create enough to trade for another core piece except- The Lin TPE in free agency this Summer where the Rockets can S&T for up to 8.4 million in salary. So in theory if you knew that the Rockets could get Teague, and you knew there was an impact (hopefully a quality big) free agent that would be able to be had with a S&T at that salary range than I guess its not a bad solution. That being said.... its a huge gamble, and there is no guarantee that Teague will be that good as a secondary ballhandler next to Harden who can play that role off the ball. The guy has only shot above 35% twice in his career, and has gone through major shooting slumps from long range. I personally think the Rockets biggest bang for their buck will be adding another big man. I see that as having a bigger impact moving forward. Having another off the ball perimeter creator would be nice, but you have to assume that Harden is going to be able to have the ball in his hands to create this season the majority of the time anyways. That's currently not where they are struggling.
Yup he was balling in playoffs, to the point where they had to put PG on him! I wouldn't mind him as Plan C if Rondo or Dragic are unattainable.
Would be all over it if we could snag Horford or Millsap in a larger deal. Would still consider if it was more of a salary shedding for them.
The game between the Hawks and the Knicks was awful to watch. Teague was a quitter and had very bad body language when shots don't fall for him. No, will not trade for someone like that.
