Out of all the power forwards in the league he is the one the rockets should target with everything, including the pelicans pick and even future rockets 1st. He would instantly make this team a top 3 team in the NBA with his spacing and even his solid rebounding. He is a flat out assassin. Problem is there is probably no chance the pelicans trade him especially to a division rival.

It's a shame that he just doesn't fit into the Lin trade exception. We would have to give up Papanikolaou, Motiejunas, Capela and probably some valuable picks. Might put us over the top, though?
We tried getting him with Asik and the Pelicans said no. NO knows exactly what they have with Anderson and there is no way they are letting him go willingly.
Relax, what I'm trying to say is he's a player that is probably the best power forward the Rockets could pick up with our assets. The only bump is that were in the same division. However we've made trades between us recently so maybe isn't that farfetched. If the Pelicans are interested in shaving some salary due to the bloated contracts of eric gordon and tyreke, we would be a good trade partner because we would value a player like Ryan anderson more than most teams because of the Harden and Howard effect so we would probably put forth the best offer compared to other teams. The spacing he would provide for the harden and howard is imo what this team is missing from the four spot.
Ryan Anderson was 77th out of 85 Power Forwards in DRPM last year. Terrence Jones was 78th. I don't want a glorified Matt Bullard at Power Forward. I want a guy who can guard LaMarcus Aldridge.
gives them a lot of firepower when asik is on the bench and anderson plays next to davis. as they are playing well this season, he is untradeable given the rox lack of assets.
Ryan Anderson is a name that's been tossed around multiple times over past few years, but as others have stated the Pelicans know how valuable he is and think highly of him. If you remember, last year there were wispers of an Asik-Anderon trade, but reports said Pelicans preferred Anderson (crazy they ended up with both anyways, showing that they also had a pretty high opinion of Asik also). But I think stretch 4's may be an overrated facet in the NBA nowadays. How many great teams have had a legitimate 3 point shooting power forward lately? They may be entertaining and put up good numbers, but I a strong defender at the 4 may be of better service to Houston.
I think just the opposite. They offered RA, and we said no. Why? Because we don't want a one trick pony at PF.
One more thing on the pelicans. Next year, including Ryan Anderson, they have around 52 million tied into 5 players(Anderson, Davis, Holiday, Gordon, Evans). Thats 52 million not including Omer. Omer asik should easily command about 12 million, maybe even more depending on the increase in the cap.They're also probably more inclined to overpay for Asik because they wouldn't want to give up a first round pick for a one year rental. So basically those 6 players would be their core without room for additions besides for the vet min and cap exceptions. They could potentially want to dump some salary and out of evans, holiday, and anderson, I feel like Anderson would net them the best assets.
When the time comes to be cost-conscious they probably dump Gordon and give up a pick for the right to do so. There are plenty of teams that need a SG and could eat the salary if a pick was involved. Off the top of my head I could see Milwaukee giving them Mayo for Gordon and a pick. This actually works well for both teams. Mayo is a great career 3pt shooter 38% and Milwaukee could use the a SG. I could also see the Lakers taking a flyer on Gordon if they strike out in free agency again.
I see threads like this and think,"Thank goodness Daryl Morey is the GM." Anderson would be a nice addition at the right price, but he is NOT the player you go all in for.
This. Until someone bigger then T Jones with game shows up, Rockets may just have to wait a little and let Jones become what he flashes regularly. Canceling out a teams scorer is a good way to level the playing field. Then I like our chances a lot more. A whole lot more.
We need a big who can get rebounds and play defense on bigger PF's. And put up at least 8 PPG when Dwight is out. Don't really need more offense here.
True and good point, but I'm sure there more inclined to drop some of their completely inefficient, ball-dominant guards. Does their GM just like to stack Brandon-Esque chunkers or something? That 1-2-3 combo is almost laughable from a statistical analytical standpoint.
