It means we're in "we're still searching for our [franchise] QB" mode. :)

So if Garoppolo is better than Mallett and Mallett is better than Hoyer than that means all of them are better than Manziel!

if 2 mallets are traveling at the speed of light, one is headed north the other south, at which point in time will they meet halfway to high five each other?

He don't have to tell him that personally. Everybody knows that Bill Hoodie doesn't pay role players period. Go ask Randy Moss who broke records there. Go ask Deon Branch who was their best WR during his days there. Go ask Wes Welker who routinely put up big numbers year in and year out. And go ask Richard Seymore who was a beast on that D-Line for them. So why would anybody think Beli would have given Mallett an extension to walk around with a clip board for another 1-3 years.

    Bwhahahaaha C'mon Man:grin:

Nimo you were correct about Moss. They did give him a contract extension in 2008. But he didn't get an extension in 2010.

In the week leading up to the Patriots' 2010 season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, Moss, who was entering the final year of his contract told CBS Sports that he "did not feel wanted" in New England absent a contract extension offer.[48] Moss would go on to catch 5 passes for 59 yards in Week 1. After the game, Moss told reporters that it would be his final season with the Patriots.[49] The Boston Herald reported weeks later that Moss requested a trade following the game.[50]

Mallet still had a year left under his rookie deal... If Jimmy G wouldn't have been able to assume backup duties they may would have kept Mallet and let him walk after this year. At least that's what I thought Nimo meant. Mallet wasn't asking for more money and probably wouldn't have stayed in New England if they offered him a contract anyway.

Just wait for the Rockets to play on a Wednesday. 50% off when they play on a Wednesday, outcome does not matter.

Is it too crazy to think that the Patriots got that wrong? They would have at least tried to trade him if they thought high enough of Hoyer.

Nah, some are Vince Youngs. Seriously, Winston has take the money and run written all over him. Low ethics and just not too bright.

Tom Brady is the 11th highest paid QB in football this year; in terms of just base salary, he's 22nd. By franchise/GOAT standards, Brady is grossly underpaid. What other QBs have they paid? Cassel? Hoyer?...

As for CBs & WRs (we'll deal with Hayensworth next), here's a partial list of CBs/WRs they've let walk in their prime: Ty Law, Asante Samuel, Brandon Merriweather, Aqib Talib, Deion Branch, Troy Brown, Wes Welker... They did re-sign Moss - and then released him the final year of his deal.

Haynesworth was not given a big contract; they dealt a 5 for him and he lasted 4 months. I'm not sure why you mentioned him.

Here is a list of other players they've jettisoned: Rodney Harrison, Lawyer Milloy, Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, Logan Mankins...

I wouldn't throw the word "fact" around. We don't know anything about the negotiations.

Every team carries a back-up QB of roughly his same skillset; his value wouldn't be impacted by an injury. In fact, it might actually be diminished if a team with a knowingly better back-up offers theirs up.

All he's done is be an ACL away from being the Patriots' starting QB for three years. Beyond that, it's absolutely beyond silly to draw *any* conclusions about him based on what he's done in the NFL. That is just... wow. Really remarkable.

Sorry, man - there's absolutely nothing to suggest, good or bad, that the Patriots were going to re-up with Mallett.
