Indeed. Missing on a guard wither first pick in the second round is brutal.

Su'a-Filo will be fine, the raw power is there... experience will turn him into a good player

His ass needs to be on the field next week chasing Hoyer out of the stadium.

His knee is not where he wants it to be. It's probably 90% so he doesn't have the heart and pain threshold to play.

I'm sure he will turn out fine... Guys like him usually do but he's still a guard and the Texans already have two young ones and I seriously doubt he was the best player available.

It sucks that UCLA graduates late and that caused him to miss OTA's and O'Brien didn't do him any favors when he had him playing guard and tackle throughout training camp to help his "versatility" instead of focusing on just left guard.

Also sucks that Bitonio is playing really well as a rookie right now.

That is the most frustrating part. The team is not run well. Draft mistakes continue to happen. There is no hope of a change in leadership. Ugh!

Please enumerate the right decisions that are being made by management. Decisions that will lead to winning football games. I see high draft picks that are giving us nothing...an offense that was designed to work 10 years ago...and zero plan for a true starting QB.

At this rate, Watt will be retired by the time we have built a complete football team.

Ref, I've already stated my opinion clearly but would be happy to elaborate if necessary. I threw in the season last year before it started because I knew Schaub was done. I had no hope with that iteration of texans.

Kubiak is gone - our coach has improved measurably. How measurably? well, we've already doubled the win total with essentially the same team and have anywhere from 3-5 more wins coming.

The defense looks much improved (without our #1 pick on the field) and we have arguably the best defensive player in football locked in for the long haul.

Our cap problems will be gone after this year.

Our new secondary coach seems to be getting more out of less than we've seen in quite some time. Add in a replacement for cush and joseph and we're in the money on that side of the ball. (did i mention swearinger is looking like a playmaker? yeah, he'll do some stupid ish, but he makes up for it with big plays) Let's not metion getting traction out of mercilus and adding in a real nose tackle next year.

Let's go to offense. Foster looks great, Blue looks better to me than Tate ever did. Hopkins is developing into a legit 1 and contrary to the neysayers, I think the o-line is improved this year as we actually have a right and left tackle for once. Brown has got to get better but I'm still convinced that will happen.

Our special teams isn't special, but don't look like a benny hill intro on loop this year.

Now, we've thrown away our track to the playoffs to cash in a lottery ticket on QB. We don't know if there is any value, but by trying this early, we've got improvement in draft positioning to look forward to if coke head doesn't pan.

I also haven't heard battlefighters once. That is enough for me.

    last couple things -

    1. you don't get to hinkie in the NFL. O'Brien was charged with winning. Not cultivating talent first and winning second.

    2. changes to culture don't happen overnight in any organization. Change management is a very difficult thing in any culture. O'Brien is implementing this change and it will take 2-3 seasons to see it completely manifest. Expecting it as a big bang transition the moment he was hired is not very smart.

    3. rick smith is still a problem that I expect to be resolved over time. It is my biggest problem with the current regime. However, given the fa's he's brought in (something that is usually largely scouting/GM) he's been above his historic averages in performance this year; therefore, my historical frustration is mitigated by his current competent performance.

I also get that like sports radio, sport message boards are built for strong opinions either way and not a patient neutral position. My board wiped with O'Brien, yet I can tell the vast majority are looking at this going back to the beginning of the franchise. That 100% discredits the O'B hire and I'm not ready to do that.

Yeah, but we have heard "play harder, coach harder" about a hundred times.

Overall, I like him better, especially since he put Mallet in.

I don't get all the consternation. This year was meant to be a throwaway. People get hurt. Stuff happens. 2011-13 was worth blowing a gasket over. This? Pfft. Child please.

I agree with you...but I think there are quite a few folks here who built up some lofty expectations about all this "talent" on the roster.

My concern is with the guys at the very top. Ownership and management. There's a tone that's been set that I don't like. I don't think you can keep drafting like this and do anything worthwhile.

One last thing...the consternation and/or frustration stems from the fact we live in a city crazy for pro football that's never seen a team even get to a conference championship before. That's the broader context. I recognize it's unfair to judge the Texans by the Oilers...and it's unfair to judge one regime because of another regime...but it's the context, regardless. We don't live in a bubble.

w/l throwaway. Not a talent, no guys from this draft play at all throwaway. You have a rebuilding year with no rookies playing.

Throwaway season and literally zero production from your draft picks? No need to worry at all!

Maybe it's time we hold this team to a little bit higher standard, no? That's one of the biggest problems is that no one in houston knows what a winning football team looks like... So the masses just sit back and give this organization a pass time after time after time even tho management has routinely shown total ineptness since this franchises inception.
