Dion Waiters skips national anthems because of his religion

No excuse. It's disrespectful. Us has freedom of religion. It's not about what you believe. It's about respect. It's a spit in the face to people in this country. I was born in another country btw so I don't know if my appreciation ofwhatthiscpuntry stands for makes me feel strongly about this.

I don't understand how his religion interferes with the anthem. You can be Muslim and American and respect both equally. He's basically stating that a requirement of Islam is to not like America. I feel like all this does is promote negative stereotypes that aren't warranted for a lot of Muslim-Americans.

Looks like the guy is just a hothead and really skipped the anthem because he was demoted to the bench and then later flippantly said "it's because of my religion".

 

I was raised in the Jehovah's Witness cult and we weren't allowed to participate in the nation anthem either. They compared it to worshiping the Golden statue in the ridiculous Daniel story.
