That's the thing, Memphis is a proven playoff team. They play more than just "Scrappy D" they have been one of the best defensive teams in the NBA for a few years now. Portland plays scrappy D, Memphis plays grown man D.
Funny how nobody ever says that about teams like San Antonio and OKC(last year). You know, actual contenders.
Memphis lacks the offense to do anything in the playoffs. It's crucial that they have a great record so they can have home-court advantage. But until their perimeter scoring goes to another level, they're 2nd round fodder.
1. It's a given that they're good. Nothing needs to be said towards that. 2. Memphis wears you down. I don't think SA and OKC would cause that effect, even though they're better teams.
lol, agreed. casual fans try too hard to come off as "edgy" and avant grade. it is what it is, ain't nobody scared a memfis.
you concentrate against memphis and you're through. they'll wear you out, but if you apply yourself and don't implode, you'll make it through in 6. z-ho will have a few big performances, but it can be overcome. OKC definitely has a stronger effect, they've got ibaka and adams playing dirty int he post and westbrook coming at you at 100 mph. who knows with their health situation this year. and SA might not seem physical, but they've got the ball movement and guys like parker and ginobili who keep probing. it's just that memphis doesn't do anything but play slow, grinding defense that they get the rep as a team that wears other teams down.

Feel bad for D-Cuz. Only he and probably Dwight would be the only players in the game who'd get that offensive foul at the end - especially when it'd foul them out. He has been absolutely beasting to start the year. Tough call for him.
Pathetic two last plays for Phoenix. Morris had a semi-wide open drive to the ring instead shot the midrange jumper on the second last possession - at least take it to the hoop and try and get a foul. And a fadeaway 3 pointer for Thomas against his old team. Yuck. Morris also had a backcourt cut straight to the hoop from the corner but just stood there.
