So far, the Rockets still aren't really being taken that seriously by most. If the Rockets beat the Warriors, does that change the perception?

I think the overall national perception won't change until we have a deep playoff run.

There are too many haters that just don't care what we do in the regular season. You HAVE to make them acknowledge us in the playoffs.

The Rockets have been talked about a lot so I think we're getting attention.

But yeah beating a team that has a higher point differential than us would be a nice win. We would be 10-0 heading into Memphis.

Only one way to find out! Personally, I just hope they keep winning for purely selfish reasons, not because I need to prove something to Ric Bucher.

At this rate we might have to win 2 or 3 titles before we get taken seriously. The minute our lack of depth shows and we drop a game we're gonna get piled on.

Rockets will win and still get hated on and I love it. F the media I'll say this again after we win the championship too.

not really. its just another game in a long season where it's really about houston getting better and better as the season goes along. at some point houston is gonna run into problems (and people here will probably overreact as usual). it's how the team bounces back and responds that will tell more than 1 game on saturday.

I can only speak for myself, but if they beat the Warriors(especially if it's a decisive win), then I'll definitely start to take them seriously as a contender. Right now I'm on the fence given their lack of playoff success and questionable depth.

Now if they beat the Warriors and then go on to win in Memphis in a week and a half(and presumably knock off the T'Wolves, Sixers, and depleted Thunder in between), then even the media has to consider them for real.

    #### the media, and beat the Warriors for playoff positioning - no other reason matters.

And previous poster is right about the respect not coming until after the Rockets win a Championship. Hell, the Rockets still haven't gotten enough credit for the back to backs 20 years ago.

Rockets didn't even get respect after winning the title in 94. It's what made Rudy make his famous quote after sweeping the Magic for the repeat title.

Folk obsessed what the talking heads thinks. They want it so bad.

When will the media talk about us!?
When will the media respect us?!
Oh no, they have us number ten in the power rankings!

Houston is already being talked in the national media. If the Rockets beat GSW a number one power ranking by all media outlets will certainly occur early next week. Even WaPo has had two articles on the Rockets this season. Beautiful basketball is hard to ignore. And yes Harden, Howard, Ariza and Bev can anchor a top five NBA defense. And no one has any questions about their offense.

What's funny is the rockets are on an upward trend while GSW has peaked and is on the way down.

The rockets can and will add another cornerstone over the next 10 months and will finally be able to add the depth they need and not have to worry about flexibility. This will be a significant step forward for them.

GSW, with them handing out stupid contracts all over the place, will likely lose both green and Barnes this offseason, unless they are willing to pay massive luxury tax penalties.

Don't care about media perception. As long as we keep winning I'm happy

ESPN people rank the rockets at 1 or 2 right now. Harden for the MVP, Ariza, the most underrated player in the off season. What media are talking about?

You misunderstood my intent with this thread. I do not care what the media thinks. I was simply wondering if this is the game that will change their perceptions, or if they will continue to hold on to their narrative they created during the summer.

It's more of trying to guess the narrative than actually caring about their opinions.

Well said... and even winning titles people would still say "The Bulls didn't have Jordan"

THe rockets schedule looks easier than it is. Sure there's some dregs - but they also started off with 4 road games in 5, with both being back-to-back's - and won easily every time. It's not like Utah isn't capable of beating people at the D-center. Ask LeBron.
